Vulcan Dkyr deflector dish

So this picture on the top is the dkyr class in ENT where it does not have a deflector dish type thing on the front end.

where as in STO it has a deflector dish....maybe someone knows why its like that when the model clearly didnt ever have one in the show. (IMO i think the deflector dish looks ridiculous)

Maybe in the first picture the deflector dish has some kind of door that covers it to protect the dish when it is not in use.

if there was a deflector dish it was never revealed in the series... which wouldnt make any sense considering we see it in combat and in travel...etc.
so i personally think its something cryptic felt like throwing in there

Bear in mind this one was offered for sale on C-Store before Cryptic was bought by PWE. Before such things as Lockboxes were a reality. It always had limited customization. This never was a literal interpretation of the 22nd century Vulcan Combat Cruiser. Ours is a 25th century science ship.

Should we be so lucky as to be offered a T6 Vulcan ship (c-store or otherwise), perhaps it may come with actual customizations. Such as more material types and deflector interpretations. Including the D'Kyr costume as well.

i am well aware it was brought to the game about 6 years ago if i remember right. however if you want you wan to go that route of defense there always is the description of it from the STO wiki
"The D'Kyr Science Vessel is an Admiral (Tier 5) level Federation Science Vessel. This Vulcan design has been in continual use since the 22nd century and has seen use as a combat cruiser, a planetary defense ship, an exploration vessel and a rescue ship. "

and according to Memory Beta it states the dkyr class as a combat cruiser not a science vessel. (memory alpha says roughly the same thing)
So i think it was cryptic just throwing TRIBBLE around and decided oh you know what lets make something that says its a combat cruiser and turn it into a science vessel and just for TRIBBLE and giggles lets remove a portion of the hull and put in a deflector.

Also how could it not be a literal interpretation when the ship clearly is called a dkyr so id say it was just pure ignorance on their part...and ridiculous youre trying to defend them to that extent by trying to offer then a free pass for it.

FTR not relating to the above stuff ive written
id love a t6 or just more vulcan related content which also they said they wanted/planned upon implenting (back before PWE took over completly) so it might be them just as much impeding it or the people who hold the rights to the show...because i know for the longest time everyone on the fourms on the old website all they talked about was get a t6 connie etc and for the longest time they told us it was never going to happen because of licensing.

I don't think the deflector was done for giggles. Nor as an intentional poke at those who hold canon dear. However, it is my opinion that since the STO scanning effect originates with a visible deflector, that the ship artists were simply being consistent by displaying a source for that effect. Design decision that I understand. The original, albeit not as shiney, Miranda class model sported a deflector for, IMO, pretty much the same reason. Game trumps canon in these examples. Even after the recent Miranda revamp to something closer to canon - sans an obvious deflector dish - player's still wanted one. So the option was restored to it's customization.

I predict a similar path for the D'Kyr.

Since when have ship class designations in the TV show ever actually meant anything? Also.... they seemed better at science than combat in the TV show....

Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though.
JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

There's also the matter that a ship's role might evolve over the years and what was a frontline heavy hitter in 22nd century could be decent science ship in the 25th and that's actually sort support in canon too, in the TOS movie era the Excelsior-class is the "new heavy hitter of the fleet", while in TNG and DS9 it's the workhorse of the fleet and nothing special with the GCS and later the Sovereign-class have taken the previous role of the Excelsior-class.
