A Question on Space Ship Set/ Space Weapon Set combos

ironmakoironmako Member Posts: 770 Arc User
Hi all. I just had a quick question on the above. As you know, you can get space sets which consist of both weapons and ship equipment, like the Borg set and the Quantum phase set for example. Both have an equipment set for Shields, Impule and Deflector, and a weapon set which includes a torpedo, energy weapon and a console.

What I want to know is, is there a subtle benefit to using both sets together, or do they both act completely separately?

I can do comparative checks on different sets to crunch the numbers, but I just wanted to know if there is a further benefit which isn't so obvious to spot.

To give you an example, on my fed ship, my alt uses phasers, so I use the Quantum phase weapon set. Currently this ship is equiped with the advanced MACO space set. would it benefit the Quantum phase weapon set to have the Quantum phase space set combined, or would it make no difference?

the sets are designed to be used separately, you can even use the individual parts in other builds such as the console which boosts phaser damage, increases your Drain stat and gives +3 AUX power essentially saving you having to equip 3 separate consoles for the same stats, also the phaser and torpedo weapons are very good on their own.

however some non-weapon space sets such as the Quantum phase applications set has stats that boost the drain effects of the Quantum phase catalysts set or any other build that uses weapons that has a drain effect such as polaron and tetryon, the drain stat also increases the effectiveness of your science abilities that uses drain such as tachyon beam

the MACO space set would only give a small boost to the quantum phase weapon set, but only if you equip 2 or more pieces of the MACO set

When I use the Qphase weapon set..Im usually running an EPG (400)/Drain (300) Hybrid Sci ship to get the most out of that 3 piece set.

Lukari,Terran,Qphase (space def), or Jem Hadar..

A note on sets, especially armament sets: a lot of armaments are set up to give some boost with two-pieces (like a crit boost or ten percent torpedo damage) - with the third part of the set giving a special ability of some kind.
