Power management Warp core?

dykerasdykeras Member Posts: 326 Arc User
I'm wanting high weapon and Aux power levels for my escort (for the aux space rep trait) but struggling to get both to a decent level... (once I set weapon power to max)

I am currently running with Nukara Deflector/Shield + Romulan impulse but not sure what core would best fit?

Maybe an Elite fleet Aux+Weapon power core? or 3x Iconian set+Romulan shields, or even the obelisk core for the Aux?

I do have Supremacy and Withering barrage traits, but still struggling to get both Weapon power and Aux to a high level.. :-(

All advice apreciated

Remember that a core that boosts power to other subsystems will let to steal power from them. That is, W > S adds power to shields, you then reduce shield power and add it to Aux. W > E does it for engines.

It's not actually "stealing" since that implies it takes power from one system an distributes it to another system. Rather it is bonus power to one system based on 7.5% of the power level from another system. Therefore W>A means whatever the power level of your weapon is, your auxiliary system will receive 7.5% of it as a bonus.

I recommend you look into the Terran Taskforce Warp Core. While in combat, over time all subsystem power cap and all subsystem power levels will increase by 5. When combat ends the bonus power cap and power will drop back down to zero. It also adds 7.5% of your weapon power to your auxiliary power as bonus power.

If you don't already have it, you can purchase the Plasmonic Leech from the Exchange for 2m EC I think. It got a significant nerf recently, but it can still provide up to 7.5 power to all subsystems. Only Fed (and Romulan-Fed) players can buy the Leech from the Exchange. KDF (and Romulan KDF) must purchase the T3 Vandal Destroyer from the C-Store to get the console, but you can claim it as many times as you want though only one Leech can be installed in a ship.

There is also the Bio-Neural Gel Pack which provides 2 points of power to each subsystem.

If you install all three of them, then your Aux power can get up to an additional 24.25 power during combat.

You can also just do a Drake build using Emergency Power to Weapons and Emergency Power to Auxiliary.

Slot one copy of Power to Aux, and one copy of Power to Weapons. Use 2 or 3 Emergency Power Variants of Damage Control Engineer as your active space boffs and you should be able to keep chaining the two of them to keep your power levels up. It's a pretty potent combination for damage, especially if you're using the Nukara Aux Trait.

For the Warp Core, any of the ones listed work great. I usually use either Iconian or an Elite Fleet Core and they both do a good job.
    Insert witty signature line here.

    at.

You misunderstood. I said if your core is W > S (not A!) then you get +shield power. Since you want aux, that means you can steal this "extra" shield power for aux by lowering the base shield power setting and increasing the base aux power setting.

The point was that if the core you want for other features is W > E or W > S instead of W > A, you can still get that +7.5 aux (well, either +5 or +10) by using the core and then stealing that power.

Sometimes you can get lucky on a Core upgrade. I got [W->S] and [W->A] on one Fleet core. But there are consoles that will do the same. There's Polaric Modulator that does [W->E] and Trellium-D armor that does [A->S]. I think they are from mission rewards. Plus tons of consoles (mostly rep ones) that give power to various areas.
