Spending Lohlunat Favors

So a question about the Summer Festival, and the Lohlunat Favors I seem to be amassing.

I quite enjoy the races on Risa and in the course also of completing the "In a Geological Sense..." accolade I have collected way more Lohlunat Favors than I intended to spend. I have purchased the top tier Floater and Board. I have purchased the 3 VR DOFF, and to show spirit I got a wet suit too. I've made myself the 2 holiday Tribbles.

So now what? It seems that I either need to just save the Favors until next year (in case a further use reveals itself) or commit to expanding my bathing suit collection - somewhat useless as the Risa Summer Event location is the only place the bathing suits can be worn, or buy the Kits or matching BOFF ground skills.

So im looking for opinions on what is actually worth spending Favors on.

Good advise. I sold two (999) packs for a quick 12,000,000 ec each.

Buy yourself manuals for your Bridge oficers. But you dont have to buy all of them. Buy the ones you like or you have room among your boffs's abilities.
I myself got graviton spike 1 for all my tac boffs, seismic agitation 2 for my sci ones and moltain terrain 2 for engie ones. The others are not that good or I have something better, like cold flash 3 for example...

Some of the clothes are not map-restricted. Pets if you collect them. Bird eggs if you want to collect the birds or trade for marks (the horgan hunt seems to give eggs very rarely this year).

    Beyond that, this...
Put them on the exchange for 8000 a piece ;)
    ...is the correct answer.

At that price now you won't sell them. Current price is hovering about 5k each. There have been some piles down to 4.5k but people seem resistant to letting it drop below 5k.

That's the Stonecutters for you. ;)

Hee hee, this is why one needs to keep a close eye on the exchange and act swiftly ;) The price I gave, was the price from when I bought the favors that day, to get my main her swimsuits the day I posted the comment ;)

As more people complete their requirements the price will naturally drop, probably spike after the summer event if the reputation shop remains open and the favors arn't expired or something

Once players unlocked the Summer and Winter Event store it is open all year.

Or if you play the long game, you can sell them at the start of next summer's event for 16k each. That's what they were the day before the event started this year.
Sometimes I think I play STO just to have something to complain about on the forums.

Yeah, I did that since I have enough inventory slots across my characters to store up favors for the long term. This year I have not been grinding much for favors though. It could be due to the fact there is nothing really to grind favors (except for Graviton Spike and Sonic Disruption training manuals) for this year and the switch to a 90 minute cycle instead of a 60 minute cycle. The change in cycle mean the Horga'hn Hunt can only be done 2x every 3 hours instead of 3x every 3 hours. Plus I may be experiencing a bit gaming fatigue with STO so I might take a break for a month or two after the Summer Event ends.

Hmm, that's pretty good. Best I've done is maybe 4, and it's reasonably common for a set of 5 alts through a hunt to get 0-1 eggs.

Anyway.... yeah, I sold off extra favors throughout the year (especially once I discovered the swimsuits that show up in the Off Duty category - I spent a good number of saved favors on those & auctioned them for EC). Not much new to buy this year, but I still have plenty of alts who need some of the off-duty wear (Criss-cross & Mini-T tops, etc). I've probably gotten 20k+ so far this year (2 hunts a day average, rotating set of 5 alts who need eggs for marks), and have spent maybe 2-3k (one set of rashguards & shorts, silver flyer, some food).

I'll go nuts buying stuff near the end, I'm sure. And then stick a bunch in my holiday bank to sell/etc before next year.

Smoke, honestly, there's more profit in buying swimsuits from the store and selling them in the off-season. I have seen the black half-jacket from QWW go for 899K in mid summer, to illustrate the other side of the coin. Channel your inner J.P. Morgan :)

Last year's summer event finished before I joined. Because I like playing with my Space Barbies, I like costume options. I wanted a swimsuit option for Risa, but had no favors to buy them with (and didn't know to look on the exchange) So I determined to wait till this year's summer event for swimsuit-time, and then PC Issues meant no play when the event started >_< (Really liked the look of that ship too :'( ) So when I was able to scrounge a one-time log in, seeing that favors were for sale, and knowing that I certainly couldn't participate in the events to earn enough in the time I had, I was more than willing to spend the ec to buy them (I like treating my girls to pretty things  ) I dare say that there will be other players who might want to buy favors after the event ends, just so they can get the Risian costumes. My Handsome Alt, for example, really needs some shorts and a Hawai'ian shirt, so when I get back on permanently, I'd certainly be prepared pay going rate for whatever's on the exchange to facilitate that :sunglasses:

So I'd say keep them, because there will likely be a market for them afterwards :sunglasses:

If you don't want to be like JP Morgan, then be like Bill Gates and Warren Buffet and consider something like The Giving Pledge, where you give away a significant chunk of wealth to the less fortunate. I'm not sure what the druk charitable fund actually does, but I'm sure the smokebailey charitable fund could spread the love to the needy :sunglasses:

They are going for about 5k each now. During the off season in the mid to upper teens rising to the highest just before the next Summer Event at slightly more than 20k each.

Not really watching the exchange too closely so others may correct me on this but my impression is: Price is highest once the event starts due to some "want to have it right now" players, then drops when they are satisfied and everybody has earned enough favors themselves to outfit at least their main just by looking around (i. e. no effort needed), will rise again towards the end of the event when some realize they play "too casual" and won't get everything - or tire of the event and rather pay ec than build another sand castle. In the off season it seems pretty even at a level higher than mid-event but lower than end-event.

But people want their cute. Caracals may only sell at half of that (400 to 500k) but only take 10-20% of the favors.

this is classic supply and demand economics.

At the beginning of the event Supply is at its theoretical lowest as no one has produced excess favors yet, and Demand is at its highest, as players want the top tier board, floater, and swimwear, doffs kits and skill books.
At the end of the event Supply peaks as most players have fulfilled their internal requirements for things, and demand will have a small peak as players panic buy things that are not available out-of-season (doffs).

For the remainder of the off-season, demand is relatively low - players cannot buy the doffs, boards or floaters. But the event store remains open so players will still want to buy out-of-season swimwear. I can't recall if the event reputation store offers the
kits or manuals. Supply starts high based on players who have stashed favors, but steadily drops over the course of the year, until, in anticipation of a pre-event demand spike, the remaining event capitalists unload their favors in the days just prior to the event starting again.
