Is the SAFG a must have still?

In this day in age with the way the game functions and recently drains have gotten even stronger...is the console a must have anymore?

It seems like in anything that means anything (STF's) that my shields are almost always down...I don't take any shield related space skills

So do I really need it or can I just replace it with a better console?

It was a neat thing if you've had extra room but almost never worth actually sacrificing something for.
Back then was a also different matter because we only had about half the universal consoles we have now but the SAFG's days are pretty much over now.
