T5 upgrade to T5U

Howdy!,

This actually meant for Xbox one, but every time I switch to the Xbox one tab it puts me back into the news section. Every time I hit the forum tab while in the Xbox one section, it brings me to the forms for pc.....endless loop. Anyhow...

I am trying to upgrade T5 Mirror Assault Cruiser (from a lock box) and a T5 Patrol Escort (from Earthwork ship store) to T5U. I have the token. I don't see the option at the ship selector to do so or from within my ship equipment menu. Any help and direction would be appreciated. Remember this is for the Xbox one console.

by the way. if u buy a T5 ship while on sale you get a free ship upgrade token. I found that out the hard way.

Yeah, none of the Mirror ships can be upgraded to T5u. They are basically a different variation of the ships you can select for free when you reach level 40. Since the free T5 ships cannot be upgraded to T5u, the Mirror versions cannot either.

Also, there is no separate forum for the consoles. It's one forum for all. The Bug Forum does have separate sub-forums for each platform. In the Academy Forum and the General Forum sections simply include "[XB1]" or "[Xbox]" so people will know.

Thanks guys for the info. What about the T5 patrol escort I purchased with dilithium?

From what I am understanding from other stuff I have read, many of the T5s you can get from lock boxes can be upgraded for free. Is that true? If so, it seem purchasing an upgrade token is a bit of a scam....especially if there are so few to none to upgrade.

The T5 Patrol Escort cannot be upgraded. It is one of the free ships you can select when you reach level 40.

Basically only T5 C-Store ships and T5 lock box ships (excluding the Mirror ships) can be upgraded to T5u. The "grand prize" T5 lock box ships like the Wells Science Vessel and the Undine Nicor Bio-Warship gets free upgrades. There are some "consolation prize" T5 lock box ships that are not as good as the "grand prize" ships that can be upgraded with a ship token. Examples are the APU Cruiser, Tholian Meshweaver Escort, and the Sphere Builder Arehbes Destroyer all of which can be purchased from the Exchange.

Old T5 Event ships, but only a few are obtainable. The T5 Dyson Destroyer is available in the Lobi Store and I think there are two T5 Event Ships that can be obtained (random chance) from the Phoenix Prize Packs which are specific events on the PC.

Never upgrade to T5U, the ship won't feel quite right, the hum from the engine will now have a screech randomly in it and the carpet will be an off shade and the holodeck will malfunction 5% more of the time. Not to mentiont he cup holder onthe captain's chair while now able to hold a "Galactic Gulp" from 7^11 , will hold the NeutronStarBucks Klingon Latte too loosely and when making a hard Port side turn will spill all over your lap...

The T5 Mirror Assault Cruiser has a counterpart that is upgradeable, so long as you don't mind a non-Starfleet looking ship, the APU cruiser, which seems to be out on XB1.

The T5 Patrol Escort also has a non-Federation looking counterpart in the Nihydron Destroyer, though, unfortunately this one doesn't look to be out yet on consoles. (look out for 'Year of Hell' box for it).

Along with the ones Jag already mentioned, the Maalon battlecruiser and the Nihydron destroyer, also available in the exchange, are also upgradeable to t5U. The Maalon, while quite ugly, isn't too shabby, and if you like Escorts, the Nihydron T5U is a really nice ship, and the last time I looked was relatively cheap. It's so nice that I bought one for almost all of my toons (yes, I love escorts) after flying one, even though at the time the cost was very high compared to my budget. One other point, upgrading a ship to T5U on one toon means any other toons on that account get a free upgrade if they buy/have that same ship.

And, uh oh, even though your original post even said "remember"..... I didn't until I just went back and re-read it. I stand by what I said about the ships themselves, however the cost of them on console could be anywhere from dirt cheap to sky high.

Since it appears you like escorts from your question above, and you already have a token. I would recommend that you give the Nihydron a try. All it will cost you is a (currently unknown) amount of EC. Buy it, fly it, and if you like it, upgrade it. If you don't like it, save your upgrade token. The least that happens is you have another admiralty card. Then you can buy another upgradeable ship off the exchange and use the token on it if you like it.

Although I now have a .... few .... T6 ships to play with, I still take my Nihydron out of dry dock and give it a spin every now and then.
