I am sure that lots of players, like me, have multiple ships setup, but theres no real incentive to play any except the "best" one.
So what if, when playing PvE missions and some queues, it was possible to reduce the respawn time by choosing an alternative ship from the roster?
Rather than the completely 4th wall breaking "your defeated ship mysteriously returns to combat" respawn mechanic, this would play out as a "reinforcements arrive" scenario.
"clearly" this facility should not be made available in PvP and or if it is, would involve a lot of tuning I am not competent to comment on.
At any rate, this would encourage players to own - and equip - more ships for more purpose than simply bulking out their admiralty system. Which would surely translate into more zen purchases for Cryptic.

No. Your fun makes everyone else's fun wrong by default.

But in order for this to work our "Loadouts" must save our Traits and Specs as well as our tray and weapon loadouts !
Edit: They also might sell more Loadout slots if such a system existed.
That said, I'm more interested in what @angrytarg mentions. Custom Fleet Support.
I think that would get more player mileage in terms of use.
Assigning bridge officers to ships in your roster, calling them into battle, Having them escort you in sector space, using 4 boff ships to accompany you on private/solo PvE queues....
There just so much they could do. Lots and lots of possibilities, and money making opportunities.
