Devs, i refuse wasting any Nepeta, Jevonite, and other lockbox items for DoFF, too costly for fails

lost 2-3 dozens on purple DoFFs on assignments, failed one after another fails, 6 fails in a row and might more fails if i try few more, i think RNG is either broken, or just being hostile.
i double checked to make sure they have success on tasks, i tried blue doffs. same fails as purple doffs
those items we get from lockboxes are expensive on keys by getting fails, and they are not easy to get restocking.
this feel like that i want to send a big flipped fat bird with thousand curses or cussing words.
reason i stop doing it, it feel like playing casino.

I get my Nepeta and Jevonite from Doff missions. In Nepeta is sometimes rewarded from the confiscate contraband missions on critical success.

Are there any missions involving these commodities that are worth doing? I never attempted them because the rewards seemed pretty underwhelming...

EDIT: Aside from the two chains providing a purple DOFF (even if that one is also of limited use I guess) Ghost of the Jem'Hadar and Project Chrysalis.

The research properties chains for most of them will give you some special consumables at the end, and open up the ability to make more of those consumables. Those are of some use, but hardly a necessity.
This is an MMO, not a Star Trek episode simulator. That would make for a terrible game.

If you want the consumable, probably. If you don't, a lot of them grant a decent amount of skill points (for DOFF assignments).

i have a few old missions still stuck as unfinishables, having 2/4, 3/10, and 3/6 for over a year, and never got "Delta Cluster" for purple tier doctor as i still have as 8/10, just 2 more mission and devs retired those explorable clusters, it is very hard to catch specific schedule to find doctor mission.
commodites, where you get those besides from boxes, i dont see them as contrabands, i keep getting tribbles instead of those i want and move on when tasks are done.

There is one pretty great doff assignment for Tulaberries. You craft a stack of Dosi Rotgut consumables.

    Health Restoration over time
    +20% Critical Severity

I usually combo the gambling device and dosi rotgut before heading into elite ground queues.

So I get lots of use out of that particular doff assignment and the associated consumable.

There are 2 doff missions in alpha quadrant where you can easily loose purple or any doffs because system autoslots your best doffs in it... provide additional support for karema/paradan or something like that. Make sure to slot prisoners or colonists before starting the mission.
Other than that, every mission that has message, written in red, about loosing your doffs will make you loose any doff you put in there.
On any other mission, your doffs just may go to sickbay. Only exception are white doffs I think, they always have a chance to be lost IIRC.

You can get the Gamma Quadrant Commodities from any of the "Haggle" DOFF missions available in the Alpha Quadrant, AQ Star Clusters, and sometimes available at DS9.

lolwut? You can't lose purple doffs on assignments. When purple doffs bomb assignments, they just end up in sickbay at worse. You're not losing anything this way.

He's talking about losing the commodities on the DOFF assignments, not the DOFFs themselves. For some reason he's not generating a successful outcome, even when using Purple DOFFs.

Actually, hanging out at DS9, interior, space and trader is almost always the easiest way to get at least one haggle mission at any time. I only get out of DS9 space to do red alerts and missions and I struggle to keep every commodity UNDER 200 units, despite using them for the assignments requiring them.

Also, Prototype Ablative Jevonite Hardpoints, made with jevonite (obviously), sell at around 45,000EC a unit on the exchange. Same with Ferasan Chag Grass made with Nepeta Leaves, going at around 20,000 each unit.

My Project Chrysalis mission has been stuck at needing that last mission for like, forever. I can't seem to get it to pop up. Still, it's nothing to get upset about.

Also hard to get the "Bribe Ferasan for information" Part of Ghosts of the Jem Hadar to pop up too.

As for those commodities, you can get DOFF Haggle missions for them outside DS9, orbiting DS9, on board DS9 and also talking to the Ferengi Trader poking on the replicator outside the docking area. I can pick up three-four different "Haggle" missions that way.
Now a LTS and loving it.

I got so many I had to bank them. was thinking about the Exchange the other day, since I can stack them to 250 per items Im holding off. Why i hang out around DS9, why I complain about map transfers around DS9. I live there. Feb, Rom and KDF.

It's why I live on DS9 full-time. Except for the annoyance that it warps you back to SOL after certain STFS, but who wants to spend any time there anyway.

How much are dozens of these commodities worth? I'm trying to understand what "costly" is supposed to mean.

The OP seems to be acquiring the GQ Commodities from Lock Boxes rather than running the DOFF assignments. He's talking about the cost of keys to open boxes.

Park a character at DS9 and "haggle for Javonite" all week.

Also, critical on "confiscate contraband from crew" gives some of the these.

KFD get warped to SOL as well for certain STFs. I swear all the KDF should queue up for those STFs and have an easy trip to invade SOL.

If you don't use them for doffing missions, and others follow suit....then what use do they have? Any market would dry up

This is what I usually do too, when I need to quickly level a character in the medical or science commendation schools for example. Some of the assignments that can be repeated, pay out 1300 commendation points on normal success, and over 5000 (or over 9000! :p ) on a critical success.

Edit: just for the record: they don't give 9000 points on a critical success. That was just a reference to Vegeta.

Im sure we run by each other from time to time. I like to stand at the green door by the the Fed and KDF security officers. if not down by the trader.

my apologies, i am deaf, writing my native english grammer isnt easy, if i was 30 yrs younger, my writing skill are terrible, worst than i do now. i am getting there.

thank you badmoon, that what i was trying to do, just losing commodities, not the officers.
also, thank you to rest of posters here for info on haggling, other tasks.

i really dont get it, since it producing the fails in that long streak. i feel it could be bugged or hostile RNG.

RNG has been hostile or broken since S6 on doff assignments. I've complained to deaf ears. I had stats and all from refugee turn ins, and it's clearly broken. Damn chance overperforms on success and underperforms on crit. Pre season 6, it worked perfectly. Crits happened as often as they were supposed to, then it all went to hell.

Good luck waiting for a dev to even take a peek at that code and see if something got screwed up. It has been years.
