Fleet impulse engines

Ive looked online and had these for engines for awhile but been trying to figure this out and cant find any info anywhere about it.

So the advanced fleet combat engines give your ship a type of shielding effect while in sector space and warping (its definently the engines doing it because equipping different engines removes the effect)now theres nothing in the engine description that mentions this or even hints at it,so it must be some hidden effect.

Question is......do all fleet engines give this effect and are there any other engines that give this or a similar effect when equipped?

Also is there a hidden set bonus if you have the fleet def, shield and eng?

The "shield effect" is the "Asynchronous Warp" buff which increases your warp speed a bit, slightly less that the assimilated engines from the Omega rep though.

Aside from that they kinda fall flat. Most other endgame engines have some special thing added to them and even grant set bonuses and can also be upgraded to UR & beyond.
Back in the old days fleet gear was good because it was relatively cheap, highest quality and there wasn't a whole lot of rep & mission sets to begin with.
Nowadays the non-console stuff is kinda obsolete, especially if you have the the Temporal Agent bonus of upgrading rep gear to UR from the getgo.

Basically if you make a TOS charatcer now (during the special event) he/she gets the special special status of "Temporal Agent" which grants a whole lot of character & account wide unlocks for certain tasks. The tasks can be completed any time during or even after the event is over but the important thing is getting the agent status before the event runs out.

Back to the gear related part, if that character gets all current reps up to tier 5 then all your current & future charatcers will get the rep gear as mk13-UR as opposed to the standard mk12-VR which is a very big bonus.

Reps aren't that hard to do on alt toons IF your main has gotten them already. Your main toon buys a sponsorship token for 100 marks and your alt claims it in their rep tab to get 2x the rep. That's how I do my alts. After the boost, your alts only need 600 marks to get full rep; assuming you only do the more efficient 'daily' reputation mission. And with the daily rep marks bonus for the first mission of the day, you can get 100-150 marks that first run.

PLUS if you do make an AoY toon (I assume the consoles are doing it atm?) then your older toons will get over 1000 marks of your choice for free as the AoY toon completes missions and clocks rewards. All my alts have ~1500 and working on their Temporal Reps w/o having to do anything for it.

Only really hard rep is the Romulan one. At least on PC, those queues that give those marks never have people in them, since it's an older set of queues.

umm that isn't really true. Unless you have an aversion to ground missions
“Defend Rh'Ihho Station Elite” pops quite a bit...especially on the weekends

unless you have a group of poorly geared players, its pretty easy and quick.

didnt the MACO space set have the Asynchronous Warp too? or at least it used to

The MACO engine has an asynchronous warp field, faster than the minor async field that comes with the fleet engines. I picked up the fleet engine once as an experiment on an alternate, I'm not too impressed by it and will most likely replace it with something else (Borg/MACO) eventually.

I feel like Fleet gear needs a boost. Like maybe give set bonuses when you use a Fleet shield, fleet warp core, fleet engine, and a fleet deflector. Either that, or don't add set bonuses but heavily boost the pieces themselves. I remember when the elite fleet resilient shield was THE best shield. It still isn't a bad shield, it just isn't the best anymore. With the engines I think those have always been a bit underwhelming.

    ^Agreed

It would be great if Fleet and Crafted gear allowed you to choose their modifiers.
maybe make crafting able to make the 'Blank Slate' gear and make items that represent each Modifier
just have the modifier stat not as high a Rep gear.
Blank gear have a certain amount of slots for modifiers depending on the Quality level

the advantage of Fleet gear would be that it starts at Ultra Rare and Elite Fleet gear has an innate bonus built in

Don't really want to inflict my under-geared alt on other people in any Elite queue. And the other queues don't really pop that much. Azure Nebula would be the main one I'd go for, since you can hide behind the asteroids and free the ships for max points. My main toon wracked up 13k Romulan marks back when LoR came out and everyone was huntin' wabbits! :D
