... we are attempting to save the OP from a forum vacation ... rules are rules and this one is usually strictly enforced

Lol, he wont get a forum vacation. I've gotten a couple forum vacations. You have to try harder than just naming and shaming. Some moderator will just come by and close this.

If that story is true best of luck to the victim. Since we are not talking about some purple XII phaser but something that directly translates to a 150+ $ scam I sure hope a GM will find the time to help her out by reversing that.

Should be easy if he (edit: the Scammer, not the GM of course) bragged about the scam like you said.

    Never do private trades.

If you can't get it from the exchange, you don't need it.

    People are scum.

    seaofsorrows is right.

I've done a few private trades. Nothing big, just swapping things, and only with my SIL or best friend.
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.
I have come to the conclusion that I have a memory like Etch-A-Sketch. I shake my head and forget everything. :D

While such an action is deplorable, OP, and I am as angry about it as you seem to be, posting the player's character name and handle in the forums really is against the rules.

No matter how justified it seems and how emotionally satisfying it is.

Some questions if I may -
    1) How is getting yourself an enforced vacation from here (and maybe the game as well) going to help your friend?

    2) No matter what you post here, the, the...player... who did this still has the Keys and will profit from them somehow.

    3) Contact his/her Fleet leadership. Discuss the situation with them. Please. I know if one of my members pulled a stunt like this, and someone had proof they did it, the player would be persona non grata as fast as I could press the Kick key. Further, if I did have one of my members do something like this, I feel responsible enough about my members' conduct I would attempt to make it right. Somehow. Most Fleet leadership is composed of decent folk or at least has decent people in it somewhere. Informing them of this person's activities and providing them proof would benefit them as well as your friend.

I have no right to ask but since you seem to be one of the Good Guys around here, please edit your post and remove the player's name. I am asking this as a personal favor. While I completely understand your action, I would very much prefer it if you did not get yourself into some sort of situation as well. Because doing so reduces both the effectiveness of your ability to help your friend further and brings you down to the level of the person whose name you posted.

Neither of these are desirable, IMV. Please at least think about what I have posted here.

The only emotional satisfaction I got was when I thought this post just saving one person from being his next victim.

    I will consider your words.

There is another more sophisticated scam type to beware of that's happened before, and that is someone posing as a victim of a scam in hopes that people will give them things as well and some can do a really good job of it with alternate accounts or friends in alternate accounts to put on the show. I'd never literally believe anything of the sort from someone unless I know them well enough personally to be sure if I were going to give things to them.
