Red Alerts

If you fail a Red Alert is is still supposed to go on Cooldown?

I also noticed today that the Borg Command Pickle seemed to be generating quite a bit more Spheres and Probes than it had.

You can fail a red alert?
  • echattyechatty Member Posts: 5,684 Arc User
I haven't failed a RA since I started doing them again. Came really close with the Tholian one, which was quite exciting. Still, I would guess you would still have a CD even if you failed the RA. As for the cigar ship, it's not that hard to take out.
Now a LTS and loving it.

Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.

Never had before but today both. Cooldown, and ran them again to regular success.

I've soloed the Borg before but never the Tholian. Never failed since the walls fell. The Borg was lost at the Pickle, too many spawns. Time ran out. I stayed behind and finished off the plethora of spawns. New 54 and wanted the Mastery and XP.

Yes. If you play an Alert to the end (win or fail), it goes to cooldown.
Never failed a Borg one though.
Tholians? Yeah, been there, done that...

You might be able to change map instances if it's not looking so hot.
Can't remember if you can leave an Alert and requeue for it or not.

People still play red alerts after they removed the bonus XP from them?

Sure do... good place for marks when other STFs have no one in them.

For a 54 that just unlocked all eight Sponsored Reputations they are good to get you a few days of Marks needed to level up the Reps. They are still not bad for levelling up a Ship Mastery too.

Decent for quick xp as well. Could be better.
Also only place to finish the attached accolades when required, etc.

here you had a fail one and I had one that was so zomfg over powered by a couple players they plowed it in 15s while ignoring the regen probes....

as for the CD timer, that pretty much goes on regardless of win/loss on anything that has a CD timer

How can you fail a Tholian one but not the Borg one? I can single handedly take out one of the Tholian capital ships, albeit very slowly, but I cannot do that to the Borg mothership.

Agreed. In the 50s that is where all the characters I run go to fill out their reps.

Never failed the Borg one, but I have failed the tholian one when equipped with mostly looted gear and in a team made up of the same. I've stopped using it for the purpose as a result.

No, I've failed the Borg One, had to do a last ditch "Eject Warp Plasma" that failed miserably. Maybe, it's just that I'm that bad?

I said I failed both first time through today. Had two more times each also and those were successful. The Tholian we just finished a few minutes ago was ugly. Finished off the Zlo'Pauk with about 10 seconds to spare.

Yes, Cooldown applies still. And The RA's aren't hard enough (Yes, yes.....I'm a s.adist!)

Since the Borg alert now gives 1440 dil and daily box of two mark categories (one freely chosen including luke marks) for a 2 minute milk run, absolutely.

Though the fake queue nonsense is still effin annoying.
  • spaceeagle20spaceeagle20 Member Posts: 971 Arc User
    @iconians
Since almost all of the queues are dead, they give people the opportunity to do something and gain some marks slowly .
There are even the Lukari marks, which are the new present marks right now.
Mastery-wise, Borg is good, Tholian is TRIBBLE .

Tholian used to be better before 'The Great PVE Nerfing'. That was due to the fact there were so many ships there that you'd get a lot of kills, unlike the Borg where a few wandered off and burned stuff down on their own. You'd pick up smaller amounts of XP/Ship Mastery. But there was the Boost.

When every ship comes after you because you did something stupid like turn on your agro mods, then yeah, you can fail the Tholian one. Usually, it's because I got stuck in a couple of webs and can't friggin get a lock on the Nodes in time. Happens enough, and it's a fail on the instance. Forget what the requirements are for the fail, just remember that I ended up with it. At least once. Ever since, I turn off my agro when doing that one.

Borg? Not really, unless I do something stupid or get eaten by the Lag monster. Line it up. click the little red button and fly on to the next target.

Yeah the command ship can create buttloads of probes, tractor probes and regen spheres to make the damm thing almost unkillable if your team is incompetant enough to let the fight drag on That long.

Pretty much the same situation you have with the Tzen now. You have to kill the regen guys first. Then target the REALLY hard to miss targets. I can usually kill the Borg queen pretty quick once the regen probes are gone. Tzen battleships take longer. Mainly it's a question of figuring out HOW to kill them than it is having trouble doing it. Once you figure it out in-game, it becomes rather boring.

oh... you should probably carry at least one or two high-grade ship summon skills... Just in case you need to distract other enemy's while you focus on your targets. Just a suggestion, in case you find yourself running solo.
  • ltminnsltminns Member Posts: 12,462 Arc User
Yeah, I guess the three of us were really incompetent. Thanks for the helpful advice.

This right here, it's a nice quick way to get mark bonuses for less played STFs as well as fleet marks if you want.

    Not unkillable. Just delightfully challenging.

Or at least it used to be. I haven't actually seen it live long enough to spawn more than a few regular probes in years.

There was a bug for a while where the end would sometimes spawn 2 command ships instead of one.. now THAT was fun!

I actually kinda wish that bug would re-surface. :)

As long as it doesn't bring along with it the bug that would spawn 0 command ships, sure. :D
