Expanding the existing worlds,..

What if the developers here would expand and fill the existing planets, such as Andoria, Vulcan, Betazoid, Ferenginar etc, with more stuff to do on the actual planets. Giving them activties which can only be found here with a theme of the planet.

For example, for andoira .. like the andorian pvp and pve maps, add bank, store with specific andorian weapons and space set, etc. Give the bare planet some houses or caves to visit, which opens a new mission (and perhaps foundary) that is on Planet Andoria.

I would certaibky be interested in this. Give more immersion,

The same goes to those empty holodecks that are in our starbases. Ds9 and VOY had many holodecks based episodes, I would love to relive that, visit those maps, Bring back the holograms story to Star Trek, Hologram vs. us war?

Just a few examples, what do you think? Do you have any good examples of what they could do?

EDIT: I just want to mention.. please consider redoing the STFs. They are great, but there are to mnay things listed and most of the STFs (which are good) are empty since huge majority dont do public ques or dont need the marks anymore. THat long list makes it also hard to find active ques and such.

I think some holodeck stuff would be really cool. Would be great if we could visit some of the iconic holodeck programs that occured in the series. I can also see how that would be a lot of work for something that doesn't really do anything for the overall story and rewards would be kinda weird to give out for just completing a holodeck program, so not likely something that will be done IMO. Would be cool though.

I would love to see places like Andoria, Vulcan, etc. turned into Adventure Zones like New Romulus, Nimbus III, Kobali Prime. In fact, it would be awesome to have an Adventure Zone on every planet. But the reality of that happening is slim to none. We may never see something on that scale without an Expansion that it's directly related to.

I agree. We have all these systems and no reason to go to them. I really wish STO would just focus on content for awhile. It seems like they are always fixing systems or bugs. Other games deliver tons of content. On that note I feel the game could benefit from rare, worthwhile drops, elite gear. All the gear worth using is a grind. Grind for rep points, grind for dil, grind for lobi, grind, grind, grind. Some boss gear in missions would make people play those missions. I've heard the devs say before content takes to much resources, but how is it other games pull it off well? Safe to say at his point the Foundry is a bust, as much as I appreciate the work of the community, the reward for those missions, coupled with the hit or miss quality makes them not worthwhile.

I dream of a game where there is content and a reason to play that content on every system in the galaxy.

I find it funny you would say that biggest one of the most stated complaints of STO is that they spend more time adding content then fixing bugs, with many having called for an entire season of nothing but bug fixes.

Really? I have been around since closed beta and disagree. Ground combat revamp: fix, Skill system revamp: fix, What you call content heavy is really just 1 or two events per season? that's not content. Right now the most popular thing in this game is a player generated dps league, that's not a great thing for the game. Other games deliver yearly updates that contain more content than we have in our entire storyline.

Since STO is a F2P MMO, this will not happen unless it is tied to an event that will draw a lot of players to log into the game like the Anniversary Event, Summer Event and Winter Event. Cryptic has limited resources since a monthly subscription is not mandatory and all mission content has free access meaning Cryptic does not sell expansion mission content.

Maybe they can experiment with selling holo-novels in the C-Store to test if players are willing to pay for mission content unrelated to the main story. But that is likely a low priority.

You can't be serious. I'm one of those who do call for bug fix season. Right now a bunch of my ships can't separate properly, can't use their traits, ground and space tray abilities still don't activate reliably since forever making all of STO feel uber clunky particularly on ground maps and that's with keybinds too, UI still eats up a ton of FPS, etc. etc.

Bug Fix > Content, cause broken content isn't content.

Before those who chime in saying the artists aren't responsible for bug fixes etc., I'm not talking about that, but of setting funding and priorities straight so that those responsible for it can take a break from making new powers, reworking old powers (skill revamp), and focus on existing problems, while also hiring more programmers who can look at the STO code and figure out what's wrong with so much of it like pets not responding to commands and so on as opposed to hiring more voice actors or ship designers.

The only MMO that comes even close to this is WoW, and WoW is utterly unique due to its status as king of the hill.

Well, FFXIV does too. Just sayin'.

The STF's probably won't be updated until there's a major update of the Borg. The devs have expressed interest for this in the past but it has to be worked into the current storyline (which is planned months/years in advance). They won't arbitrary go back to revise this sort of thing.
For example, for andoira .. like the andorian pvp and pve maps, add bank, store with specific andorian weapons and space set, etc. Give the bare planet some houses or caves to visit, which opens a new mission (and perhaps foundary) that is on Planet Andoria.

That's not necessary, nearly every location in the sector block has a "Foundry door" attached. Authors can specify these as mission start points and use not just Cryptic's maps to create their builds.

In fact I recently made a mission set on Fereginar (called Entanglement.)

I know there are also multiple Foundry missions already available for Vulcan and Andoria. Another one of mine travels to Andoria over the course of the mission, though the starting location is in the Mandel System. Basically, there's a lot out there and you won't see an update from Cryptic to any of these locations unless, as with the Borg update, it makes sense for the game to move in that direction (otherwise it's just a lot of stuff happening without any sense of plot development or theme.)

If you find a planet without a Foundry mission, and feel strongly enough about the gap, why not challenge yourself to fill it? That's pretty much how I got started (though working from a narrative point of view than just looking at the sector block.)

Looking for something new to play? I've started building Foundry missions again in visual novel form!
