Woke up 2 hours before work so i can get the day's giveaway only to find out there is freaking maintenace going on. Are you FREAKING kidding me? Some of us have jobs and then have to sleep when we get home and so I was going to get it before going into work. But No. They effin closed the shard down 2 hours early and lock me out from getting my specialization points. The dicks!

No I work at Walmart. I may take longer doing tire work and lube jobs. .... maybe.
You should always expect an emergency patch the day after a major release of new content. Sometimes even for two days.
It'd probably be more than 5 minutes for this one, anyway - you have to log in on each character separately. Aaaand heaven forbid you haven't patched the game up before that.

We all have jobs, I worked over 50 hours this week. I got home, logged on to claim the reward and then went to sleep. It takes a couple min tops. If you decided not to do that, then cool.. that was YOUR choice. Take responsibility for your own time management and stop throwing hissy fits on the internet because you can't be bothered to spend 5 min claiming a free reward that was available to you all day. It's only a couple spec points anyway, not like you missed something enormous.

Also, it's two spec points. Two spec points. I could understand just feeling the need to vent a bit out of disappointment to miss a ship or something unique like a limited time goodie (say, Worf S1 hair and sash). But two spec points.

Ok, I am not "over it" but i am logged in and getting the reward at the cost of being late for work. I still think this reward should be available more than just one day. Even for folks like you so you can get to your sleep faster. ;-)

Well, tZENkethi battlezone was broken (for one); so, an emergency maintenance event was inbound for today, as expected.
Welcome to the forums, new player!
Veterans who have been through past events will tell you that it's common for "emergency maintenance" to happen after a major content update, to address bugs that did not show up in QA or on the test server.
Now you know. And knowing is half the battle!
