Teaming up on a team and doing Red Alerts?

Is this possible? I have tried to team up with my friend on several occasions to do red alerts ( we can team up for everything else fine) and it says, "teamate is preventing you from joining red alert". Whether he is team leader or I am neither of us can join a red alert together as a team. Is this true for everyone or is one of us bugged somehow? and after we disband, we are both able to join the red alert seperately.

Never tried that.. are you both level 50+?

Also, was one of you in cooldown for that red alert maybe?

I could be wrong, but I thought people teamed up inside the Red Alert.

you can't enter an Alert if you are in a team already.
you have to disband the team, join the alert, enter the alert and then you have to set up a team once you are inside it.
but by the time you have your team together, the alert is usually on the last ship (Borg), or nearly there (Tholians).
I tried this before some time back, and you end up getting less out of the whole experience for the effort.
It all just happens too quickly and is set up for the solo player, unless you're really fast with setting up a team - and the other person sees/accepts the invite.
you can give it a shot anyway.

Teams are usually better for grinding instances (think you can still run them in a team), doing missions which allow teams, Fleet instances, or similar things. Not all missions will let you do them in a team as several are for solo play, and such.
