Cryptic Revive the PVP

stormbrigestormbrige Member Posts: 7 Arc User
Hello Fellow player and Cryptic "if u read this" ;)

Am an old time player from back when the game was launched, and it have been a sweet and fun ride to now.
(Am not here to whine or demand, but rather try and be constructive.) ;)

But there have always been the black sheep in the game, Yes the PVP have been seriously neglected here.
There is no reason to sweet it out :P but never mind that now things are what they are.

But now is the "Right" time to revive the PVP in the game and trow us pvp'rs a bone. now that u have gotten the game over on consoles and new lighting on and all that.
And you as a company wanna draw in more ppl to get more money into the system.
now that is perfectly fine and well, as we all know that is isn't free to run a game, but in order to "help you to help us" is to improve all aspects of pvp in the game.

As you are a company have "forgot" about us pvp'rs thus u have basically also forgot about a big group of player base, remember some of us are pure pvp'rs and only play mmo for that reason alone.
And we as a player base also often go on and use more real money than the casual player as we often wanna have the "best" asap :p and thus we use money so more money for you cryptic ;)

Am for one are perfectly fine using money if it means that PVP will be put back on the agenda of the game.

I have some ideas on what might bring the pvp back to life in the game, my thoughts on it and in no way best or the only way.

But the PVP need a full overhaul, yeah and that i know will take some time to fix, we need new pvp maps, that is more competitive not just dish out on one and other even tho that is fun to.

Ideas are also a PVP talents tree system and PVP rewards can be PVP talents and rep marks like in the stf's so we have 2 groups the stfrs and pvprs.
also an open sector that have pvp in it that any can join in on without the quee system, like the one we had back in the day.

There is many ways of doing this that will bring the intrest back, easiest first step is really add rep marks to pvp so we pvp'rs get an reason to really do pvp instead of stf's.

Well am gonna quit here before this gets to long.
I hope this can contribute to some creative response and opening for pvp in the game again :D

Best regards!
And safe flying out there fellow pilot.

I hate to be the one to say this but dev interest in pvp is never going to happen unless the entire team is fired and replaced. Every time a dev has shown interest in pvp or balance they've been encouraged to leave Cryptic studios, every time, without fail.

Sadly Delta Rising was the point of no return, you simply can't balance the stuff that brought in and to change it now would make season 7's dilithium changes look like a small protest, which entertaining as that would be for me, it wouldn't be good for the game's health.

Dev work on pvp here is never going to happen and we have to live with that.

Today hell froze over. After not even bothering to mention PvP for years, Geko said revamping PvP is a priority.

they will mess it up because instead of asking the players base for ideas, they will just bring more of their own bad ideas...

There is a new PvP Arena map in Tribble with a ship destroying black hole in it. Hell has definitively frozen over. A new PvP map has arrived.

....it's in the test build.... what does that mean?!.... nut-thing, won't go live lol?! if they touch pvp they will fail. we know them. they just can't do right on the matter! this has been proven just so many times... it's set in stone!!!
maybe a map, yeah.... but don't u ever dare to hope for balance fixes and something like a playable pvp environment!...

sto pvp failed exactly with that guy. as long as he is in charge NEVER EVER ANYTHING GOOD WILL COME TO PVP....

I think he mentioned it before, but usually in the context of "but not now" "there are other things that came first".

I will only believe it when I see it. And even then I won't believe it at first.

But remember, Hell already froze over. T6 Faction Science Vessels for Klingons and Romulans happened.

it's NICE that Tacofangs could find the time to make a new map for PvP, but slapping a singularity in the middle of the map (Where nobody goes anyway) doesn't really do much.
The singularity might have more of an effect were there objectives in its vicinity that folks are going to need to deal with. A logical example would be an objective battle map that's an analogue of 'Gravity Kills' (and yes, it could be justified in-universe as a holodeck training exercise): Blue team has to run the 'STF' normally; Red team is the sole defending force. There is, of course, a fifteen-minute time limit. Blue wins outright if they destroy all three stations; Red wins if at least one remains operational when that limit is reached.

As a competitive option, after time expires or the stations are destroyed, the teams switch roles and play through it again. Whichever team does a faster job as the attackers wins.

We probably got this map thanks to console players (as a gift for them) because I can't see any other profitable reason .
On console, pvp is very much alive because you can't stack too much TRIBBLE there like on pc, therefore why should they fix it even if they could ? They make enough money from power creep and space barbie so ...

I check back every few months to see how the game is doing, with just a faint hope that something might have made PvP alive again. The only thing that would bring me back to this game is a total revamp of PvP, which will realistically will never happen though. Just makes me think we should start a new Star Trek mmo :p

I for one am not terribly hopeful for any PVP fix, considering they took every bad thing about gPVP these days and rolled them up into one handy Kit Module called Kligat. However I would love to be wrong.

I wish that a true revamp would happen, I might even come back for it. Some of the very best times and relationships I have ever had in gaming came from PvP in this game. Sadly, I'll believe it when I see it, and then only maybe.

    rofl:
    http://www.arcgames.com/en/games/star-trek-online/news/detail/10402523-balance-changes-coming-to-star-trek-online

"The goals boil down to these:

Increase the fun – Games are about having fun, and players should not be made to feel that their fun is “wrong.”
Player investment retains value – While things need to be adjusted, a setup that was optimized before should still be useful and effective afterwards.
Choices should be meaningful – Anywhere the game gives you a choice, there should be no choice that you always take nor one you never take."

    my bet:..... bwahahaha xD....
