Klinzhai vs Gorkon

Qapla! So next month I will be able to afford a free T6 ship. I'm wanting to update my KDF Sci officer. Currently she is flying the K't'inga battle cruiser retrofit. While this ship still can keep up with newer ships, it's sorely lacking in the science department. I've been trying to keep the TOS era look but I really need to get a better ship for her.

I've been looking into either the Klinzhai or the Gorkon science ships. Does anyone have any first hand information on using these ships? Will I be able to reskin either one to the D7? If not, I'm still going to get one of these. I'm leaning heavily towards the Klinzhai class.

Have you looked at the Naj'sov? I know it cannot mount cannons, but it has Temporal seating which is better for SCIENCE! than Command Seating.

There is also the Klavek Pilot Raptor, the more "science-y" oriented pilot vessel.

As for costume options, both the Klinzhai and the Gorkon require you to own the whole bundle (Flagship or Command Cruiser) in order to get the most customization options. Even then, I don't think either ship looks like a D7. The Gorkon can look like the Bortas, but that is as close as it comes. None of the Klingon Command Cruisers look anything like a D7. They all resemble bricks.

Interesting. I seem to have missed the Naj'sov altogether. It looks like it might be a better option than the other two. Unable to equip cannons is something though. I've heavily invested in some powerful cannons but it might give her some things to work towards if it only mounts beams. And if you squint one eye and close the other, it could be close to a D7. :) Thanks I might consider it.

With your question and icon, I'm guessing you have a Quch'ha character. If so, more power to you!

Regrettably, the only T6 ship that can look like a D7 is, well, the D7. If you want something similar at T6, I'd actually suggest the Qib (Intel Battlecruiser) which has a similar size, profile and handling characteristics; you can also switch the neon "intel" skin for a more conventional one.

If a sci-heavy, D7-style cruiser is your aim, then I think the best candidate would be the Fleet Kamarag. Granted it's "only" T5U but if your main gripe with the D7 is its BOff seating, it's worth a look; plus if you buy promo R&D packs to trade for fleet modules and an upgrade token, it's probably a lot cheaper (albeit as a single-character unlock).

    She doesn't talk about it!

Thanks for the information on more ship options. I've got a lot of research to do.

Depends how sciencey you want to go.

Naj'sov is the only pure science ship option at T6.

Klinzhai I adore and usually is the ship I end up going back to, moderate sci available but is engy heavy. Best of the science cruisers imo.

Gorkon, versus the Klinzhai it has 1 less sci console, 1 less potential sci boff ability but does have sensor analysis. No hanger. Don't like it personally.

Cannons? You might actually want to consider jumping into the Klavek sci raptor

4 sci consoles, and 5 sci abilities like the Klinzhai, but with more tactical focus.

So, want to go full sci, the Naj'sov is your only option. If you want a cruiser, I'd recommend Klinzhai, if you want an escort/tactical focus Klavek seems a good choice.

So with the sale going on this weekend, I was able to get a ship I wanted a bit early. I went with the Naj'sov and am enjoying the heck out of this ship. Thanks to everyone who gave me ideas.
