    -1- was not great.
-2- was outright terrible (hint: there's not a desert out the back door of the National Air and Space museum in the middle of Washington DC).
-3- isn't even a movie - its just a bunch of visual FX vomited on to the screen.
-4- ...was ok. Bordering on pretty good, if a little long.
-5- I just have no idea what to expect now.

It's easy to describe the universe in absolutes, but it's not really true. The first Transformers movie was a movie and even had some surprisingly excellent moments with the soldiers acting like they'd really, really like to live despite having an alien invasion foisted upon them. It did some weird stuff with a mythology that was pretty well constructed before he got there, but it's still watchable. 2? nope. 3? hell nope. The four came around and things were watchable again, despite it being long enough for two movies. Since the Chinese paid him to shoot an entire extra movie in their part of the world.

Five feels weaker from what I've seen, but that still just puts it in the middle of the pack. And I'm sure for all our complaining, he's perfectly happy to take his 8 digit check to the bank as all the answer he needs to our judgments regarding quality. I'd ignore me too for $50,000,000 ;).
