modern science vessels for the modern tact guy/gal

well dear friends do to conerns about the lack of tact focus on the upcoming science ships I thought I'ld throw together a little mini guide to help you get the most out out of these fine ship.

first let me state if you wish to explore the wonders of SCIENCE!!! this is not the right place. this to for people who wish to get the most out their limited weapons. if you wish to learn science there are better threads please read them.

first let start with gearing. choose you weapon type and then go to the next part

disruptor: both terran rep sets and the new entoil set. terran console in engie slot.

phaser: both Quantum Phase sets, console in engie slot. favorite warp core.

poloran: Jem'Hadar and Chronometric Calculations, favorite warp core.

tetryon: both nukara rep sets and the Krenim Temporal Manipulation. if you don't like the mine just don't use it. go ahead and put the nukara console in a sci slot. and go get the sticky web console off the exchange engie slot. don't ever use it, it's just for the passive.

plasma: reman set and Singularity Harness set, console to engie. get the Plasma Wave console from the exchange put it in engie add your favorite warp core.

ap: really there are so many thing for this it's not funny just pick you favorites put the consoles in engie slot in less they boost drain or epg then put in science. and add the Polymorphic Probe Array from the exchange in engie of course.

now that thats set less move on to your consoles pick from this list to fill in what left.

engie: Assimilated Module, Trellium-D Plating, Bioneural Infusion Circuits, xenotech consoles from k-13, resalll Advanced Engineering RCS Consoles, from fleet dil mine.

science: Exotic Particle Field Exciter, Temporally Shielded Datacore, Shield Refrequencer, Threat-Scaling Science Consoles from fleet embassary make sure you get at least one of these, epg and/or drain x Particle Focuser Science Consoles from Fleet Research Lab.

tactical: you know the answer already.

active doffs, just make sure you have a grav well boosting doff you'll be fine.

now for traits, find room for these somewhere., if you can't or don't have it pick the ones you have/like best then fill with whatever you have.

space: Particle Manipulator from r&d.

rep: Particle Generator Amplifier, Radiant Detonation Matrix,

starship: All Hands on Deck, Emergency Weapon Cycle, Invincible, Supremacy, Time to Kill

now for the fun stuff boff set up.

Lieutenant Tactical: tact team I, faw II

Lieutenant Commander Engineering/Temporal Operative: Channeled Deconstruction I, Engineering Team II, Timeline Collapse I

Ensign Science: science team I

Commander Science: Polarize Hull I, Hazard Emitters II, Feedback Pulse II, Gravity Well III

Lieutenant Commander Universal: faw I, tact team II, Attack Pattern Omega I

now by following this you should have a minimally effective science ship with decent weapon dps for improvements read a real sci ship thread and enjoy your new ship.

if I stop posting it doesn't make you right it. just means I don't have enough rum to continue interacting with you.

I like what you've got here. Is Feedback pulse really that effective? I've never used it before. Anything specific I should know about it?

yep. you still get damaged but if you have Invincible you should should be able surive anything long enpugh to heal up. it doesn't reflect exotics or kinetic/physical dmg. it meant as a hard counter for enegry weapons. you can do alot with it if you built for it which nothing here is, but go ask in the science build thread they'll tell you how really have fun with it.

    Thanks, I'll check it out.

Got here from Highlandrise's two tac console thread.

I've been fumbling around with my Romulan Sci's build (the Hanom) since Legacy dropped. I for a while had no success just trying to build it as a cruiser or escort with science heavy abilities. I was able to get somewhere with the Dyson Warbird, but it was just passable. Then I started having to put other consoles into the tac slots (since there weren't any majot Protonic Polaron boosters anyway), then a trait here, a couple of new consoles there (the crafted Particle generator) and some Embassy consoles. Then sometime in the last year I realized my science warbird was somehow my most powerful boat across all my characters except my main. Through the Dyson engines on instead of the Solanae and she became the fastest ship I've got. And I still can't figure out how I did it.

Just to reiterate, feedback pulse is awesome, and essentially provides an additional weapon... My Yorktown, thanks to feedback pulse, has seven 'weapon' tabs available, and as that's not one of the tactical options I normally use (Kool-Aid build, so just tabbing the cannon rapid fires) it's almost never on a cooldown, so available if things're getting a bit tense, and the other options are on cooldown B)

So I tried the feedback pulse on my Temporal Agent. So I now LOVE the Feedback Pulse on my Temporal Agent. So I will not leave home WITHOUT the Feedback Pulse on my Temporal Agent. So I want to thank you for pointing me in the right direction with the Feedback Pulse on my Temporal Agent. Thank you. B)

skills like fbp are why I adore sci heavy ships and hate tact heavy ones. anything with more then 4 tact boff slot feels to restrictive too me. granted part of that is I hate having more then one of any skill. anyway glad to help.

I didn't even need invincible since it's a sci ship so the shields were shrugging things off. It's been a while since I've equipped a new skill and it proved itself in it's literal first outing. I will be continuing deeper into the rabbit hole.
