T5-U Tor'khat

Hopped off my D7 Temporal battlecruiser last night and on to my T5-U Tor'khat. For a T5-U ship...I'm impressed. And it can look like a Vor'cha! I have it kitted out with everything Vor'cha except for the mission pod I chose the Vor'kang mission pod. It's a little more streamlined. Great ship! This may be one of the best Klingon cruisers currently available...with maybe the exception of the Fleet Qib which I don't have. It's too fugly looking for me.

You're right! It's true! There's no doubt. It's an amazingly good ship. Versatile and powerful. And it can look like a Vor'cha to boot!

The Vor'cha class is one of the most iconic and loved klingon ships out there. I'll never understand why Cryptic wasted the opportunity to release a T6-version of this beast along with the new Sovereign... Still, damn good ship.

The Tor'kaht is one of the best ships at Tier 5 and with the upgrade is still rock solid and easily competes at Tier 6.
It's one of my favourite ships in the game and I even like the Tor'kaht ship model designed by Cryptic, looks cool.

You should have seen what we were doing with this thing in PVP when it first came out years ago (2012, FYI). Between the Fleet Vor'Cha, Hegh'ta / B'Rel, and Vo'Quv, we had an answer for everything.

    Hegh'ta.... :'( I need that bird back ....
You know what? I'm making this my little side project - making the only available Hegh'ta workable. It should be fun.

Get in the line. ;) I've been begging for that ship forever.
The Hegh'ta has a ton of sentimental value to me - seeing the design in pictures made me want to go KDF in STO, it was my first end-game top tier (at the time) ship in STO, my first Bird of Prey, it was my first PvP ship in STO and I just love the design - it's a really good design and a damn shame to be wasted. It needs to be back at end game in a T6 variant.

But until then, I'll try squeezing the best out of the last available one for real. It seems fun to try and I don't want to let the ship slip into oblivion, there will be at least one Hegh'ta stubbornly sailing the stars in STO. :)

No matter how hard I try, I can't seem to pilot a BoP well. I have the T6 Kor and it looks great...but it's so darn fragile.

Trellium-K Engineering Console and the Temporally Shielded Computer Core combined with Auxiliary Configuration - Defense (at 130 Aux Power) and at least 1 point in the "armor" skill(s) in your Engineering Space tree and your Kor should stop being quite so flimsy. Add Auxiliary to Structural Integrity Field I for extra "hull stiffening" and you should be good.

Just don't try and produce constant "pressure" damage from a Bird of Prey and you should be okay. That will typically skew your build towards Sci-Torp and nigh constant use of Enhanced Battle Cloak. You can acquire Technician DOffs from the Exchange which give you +25 Aux Power while Cloaked, which is fantastic for an Enhanced Battle Cloak B'Rel/Kor or T'varo/Malem to get you into the 75/75/75/130 (or better) range for [AMP] and Sci-Torp burst damage goodness.

Practice my friend, practice.....I'm more of a cruiser/battlecruiser player myself, so I had (and still to a degree have) the same issues you've mentioned. But those damn BoP's are so iconic, their design is breathtaking and they're just so damn fun to command that I had to force myself to learn. The trick is always being on edge. hehe :)
Once you get comfortable with a BoP, you'll just start to love 'em.

The BOPs have never excelled in sticking into combat for long periods. That is IMO the first, greatest, most commonly done mistake with any new BOP driver. If you want prolonged combat stamina, Escorts, Cruisers, anything else lasts longer. Anything but a Raider / BOP. This is most especially so with the habit I see many players do in PVE: Turning their ship into a Turret. The BOP does not take shots very well, it must always move and weave in and out of combat.

That is why they were the most ideal in PVP but less so in PVE. In PVE, especially these days, people want to stay in constant contact to keep shooting. The BOP doesn't take to that well, especially if you are doing good damage and drawing aggro. You have to weave in and out of combat.

I'm going to set up my T5-U Tor'khat so that it's always ready to be pulled out of space dock. Will be switching frequently between the D7 Temporal and the T5-U Tor'khat. Running disruptors on the D7 Temporal and Antiproton on the Tor'khat.

Same here. Bought it when it was released and never looked back. I went as far as buying the Manasa escort just for the bloody trait, since it just screamed attack cruiser to me.

The disruptor cannons fitted over the years changed a bit, first borg, then fleet disruptors and so on. Currently I'm considering to switch from the Elachi set to the new Nausicaan one. The torp is kinda TRIBBLE, but one sci disruptor console and 26% disruptor damage + hull pen on top of it seem to be too good to pass up.

Yup...I'm running this. There are now a number of sets that give good Disruptor % damage bonuses. If you piece them all together...it's good!

yeah i run all disruptors now. but they look like a mixed bag of candy skittles now. but still 100% disruptor.
i even still run one Borg disruptor turret just for giggles.

I have the same problem. I hate it when useful sets completely TRIBBLE with the look of the primary armament. I wish there was a way, even for dil, to customize weapon effects. A Coalition Disruptor or Withering Disruptor build looks weird having that odd Nausicaan green disruptor sticking out, which also looks different from the base disruptor anyways.

He he...yeah, I have a little of this going on also...all disruptor...but one is shooting a different color.

I can somwhat accept different cyan/green disruptors, but the red ones are too much for me, dispite their good stats. Just threw the set on my Negh'Tev hangar decoration.

I still love my T5U Tor'kaht. Since I use the MU skin I'm going to pick up some withering Disruptors.

She competes with the Mat'ha for being my favorite KDF ship.

Any other KDF ship close to bring able to power slide like a Torkie with a turn rate of 50?

From what I understand the Monbosh is very similiar.

In my own experience, the Narcine feels like a Torkie that traded it's rear weapon slot for a Hangar that can use Frigates.

Going to try fooling arround with the Vet Ship a bit.
Thanks for the Advanced Light Cruiser, Allied Escort Bundles, Jem-Hadar Light Battlecruiser, and Mek'leth

Am I the only old-school hardcore nut-job around here that uses fleet disruptors, fleet disruptors and nothing but fleet disruptors? I can't handle skittle ships, fleet disruptors are life! >:)

@angrytarg , I know there used to be an option like that many years ago in STO, but it was removed. Currently, Elite: Dangerous has something like what you suggested - you can purchase color kits for your weapons from the store. I can see something like that working out here as well, I don't understand why Cryptic haven't done it already. Not that I have a problem personally, like I said - I only use one type of canon weapon for my ships, but it would be most welcomed as an option for players that are into min-maxing or diversifying, but still want to keep their look thematic and authentic to Star Trek.

@shpoks The "weaponhue" option has been disabled since 2011 methinks, but it would help. My character's ships all have a theme, because only using (fleet) Disruptors and Phasers would be too boring, I need some visual diversity pig-2.gif For example, one Starfleet char of mine uses regular phasers, the next Andorian phasers (because I headcanon the 25th century refits and new ships to use blue phasers, because EVOLUTION), my Temporal Agent uses Antiproton because the Wells comes with Antiproton. Klingon uses Disruptors, my Garidian red disruptors (because different disruptors), my Lukari will use Piezo Polaron, my Deferi are soon to use pulse phasers etc.

Being able to choose weapons color was definitely there at launch but Cryptic very, very quickly patched that out.

I switched back to this beauty from my D7 Temporal Battlecruiser a couple of days ago. Got it cooking! It's a beauty! Runs like a blower, eats like a grinder!

I admire your mental strength for doing that. If I was lucky enough to win a D7, I would never have the heart to leave it. :p There's a better chance that I'd push myself to make yet another alt if I felt like using another ship.

I'd like to think that the Tor'khat/Vor'cha has really good food replicators...like gourmet quality gagh and flavored raktajino. It does pretty good in just about all the advanced queues though. Have it set up with antiproton beams. Using Crystalline Torpedo which is AP energy in the front and a quantum in the rear. I did use one console to improve turn rate which it needed to keep up with the D7.

A shame the Vor'Cha never got a C-Store version. Since it is only a 4 FSM fleet ship and a single character purchase, I have only 1 character with it.

Same here, but to be perfectly honest I usually use one specific ship per character anyway, so I'm not bothered much. The only exception so far has been the B'rel which used to be my PvP platform (back when there was an actual PvP in this game).
