Trendy used to be a lot more active on the forums. She seemed to be on top of things and kept the players informed.
If I understand correctly, she got promoted - something she probably deserved for the good work she did. But it seems new responsibiltiies means someone else would need to take over the old ones, and it seems that hasn't happened yet.
- There have been a bunch of blog issues lately where it seems blogs didn't go up that should have gone up, or didn't go up in a good state. (Like the Archon/Vizier Blogs. Or how the German variant of the site had a story blog up weeks before it got to the US blog.)
- There has been some release note for a console patch that was identical to the PC patch, but was then retracted because it was obviously wrong and no console patch happened.
- One blog suggested a patch for consoles on the 15th, but that patch didn't happen - and Cryptic almost never misses patch dates.
- The aforementioned console patch didn't happen, and there was no communication about it. (And in fact, IIRC, only one of the blogs mentioned a date in the first place? Was that already wrong?)
What's up? Is something wrong?

Anything we can do? (Buy more Archons or Temporal Agent packs, so you can hire additional personnel? Is someone held hostage in a blog factory and we have to alert the authorities?)

I’d like to have him back! Seeing how all his goon fans jumped into the thread to pay him respect after all those years was pretty funny.

She deserves her promotion, I'm genuinely happy for her, but it was a very bad day for players of STO as a whole. I have played quite a few MMO's, never seen a company more committed to avoiding interaction with players then Cryptic.
Yep, exactly. It was a way to silence the voice of the community and make it look like a reward.
Again, I'm happy for her and I sincerely hope that she was indeed rewarded for her good work. The player base however, got the shaft...
Again.
I don't miss her at all because there was nothing to miss.
As a community-manager it was her *job* to be the link between the company and the playerbase.
And that's what she did: Her job. You would do that too if you would get paid for it.
Actually its nice to not see her post on here anymore, and have to witness all the creepy replies from her stalkers ! Weirdos !
I feel things are suddenly kind of strange for STO even though the game has had a very good year. Suddenly we don't have events for the weekend anymore and communication to the players is nil. I hope they refill the community position. And bring special weekends back.
"With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censured, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably."
She never actually engaged as a Community Manager in the way Branflakes did (ie no community challenges or contests) she just posted whatever she felt like, knowing that all her fanboys would lap it up, and that anyone who disagreed with her brand of humor could feel the might of the Ban Hammer... Good luck to her
Yeah, because it's her fault that people are creepy on the internet.
She did a good job, she at least listened to people and she did help quite a few people on many occasions. The brief time she was Community Manager was the only time that anyone from Cryptic communicated with us at all. Just because a bunch of horny star trek nerds responded to her in an inappropriate way doesn't mean she didn't do her job.
When she left so did any slight voice the players ever had. At the very least she at least kept us up to date on what was going on, now we can't even get press releases telling us what's going on.
I don't even know if we have a current 'Community Manager,' but if we do then he/she is terrible at their job.
Things have been going downhill since last October. I have my suspicions as to why but beyond that will not speculate.
Blogs that we could expect x or y number of days before some 'event' now end up bunched up the night before said 'event' or on the day of. Calendar has been woefully neglected of late. Wording in the Blogs is vague sometimes causing consternation.
l don't know.
l really don't know what l'm about to say, except l have a feeling about it.
That l must repeat the words that come without my knowledge.'
Did people behave in creepy windowlickingly inappropriate ways towards her? Absolutely... Just like the middle-aged mouthbreather who got Jeri Ryan to sign the crotch of the 'garment' she wore beneath the catsuits... But that doesn't justify her not doing her job of engaging with the community beyond posting Blogs and holding open-court with her minions... Windowlickers and creeps can be banned... This community is made up of the people who literally pay her wages... If the forum is to be a 'wild west look out for yourself free for all', no worries, such forums can actually be refreshing and fun to engage in, but at least let people know that that's what's happening so they can be prepared for it...
As I said, good luck to her

In stasis....I thought that was a MORGUE
You know, agreed, no, because that's not what 1701's post said, at all. Not by my read anyway. The simple point is, that when Trendy posted, the weirdo's came out of the woodwork. Clearly not her fault, but out of the woodwork they came regardless.
My read is that 1701 didn't care to see the weirdo's and now that the 'object of their affections' is not posting there are no weirdo's crawling out of the woodwork in response. (Well, no more then usual...)
I take no exception to, and actually agree with that. What I didn't agree with was putting words into his mouth and/or assuming that he lays blame on Trendy.

Thanks Suki, you get it.
And Cold.. fair enough, I'll rephrase.
Glad she got promoted so she doesn't have to deal with all the weirdos anymore on a daily basis.
I never disliked her, or thought she did a poor job or anything of the like.
But as an added bonus of her promotion, I no longer have to read the weirdo comments from her stalkers, or people using/abusing her "@" to beckon her to every other thread on the forums. For. Like. No. Good. Reason.
I'm sure she'd get hundreds of notifications a day. What a hassle that would be.
So do I miss her ? No, not really, and I think the change was the best outcome for all parties involved.
Trendy doesn't have to deal with weirdos fawning all over her anymore and gets a promo;
I don't have to read those nausea inducing stalker posts;
and the stalkers/weirdos can move on, and maybe leave her alone, or get a hobby/GF.
I wish her the best, I really do. Hope she is super successful and happy at her new job.
Its probably a better fit anyway then her time as CM.
Nobody has introduced themselves as the new Community Manager for STO that I'm aware of.
She's got expanded responsibilities and can't focus as intensively on STO as she used to, that's all.
I'm no longer privy to whatever is going on behind the scenes (not that I ever had all that much visibility) and can't say for sure why certain blogs didn't get posted on the forums or why communications might be off lately. Probably just sheer busyness.
If I know Trendy at all, she'd pitch a royal fit if management was deliberately and intentionally snubbing the forum community. They'd be fools to do that on purpose.
Unintentionally, however... Yeah, I imagine that the forums are not at the top of the checklist of "things to do". Let's not give anybody any (more) ammunition to decide that the forum community is too hostile and whiny to deal with and focus on encouraging better lines of communication.
Besides, nobody said the magic word.

I also kinda miss the snark when the banhammer landed on threads
A fair point, I revise my earlier statement.
Yeah, ok.. I'll admit that is largely true.
