Separate Forums!

I've been playing STO since it came out on consoles. I'm starting to wonder if the consoles will ever get our own forums added to the Ps4 tab?

At the moment if I have any queries or questions I have to go through pages of threads to find answers and half of the time I then find out it doesn't apply to the console version anyway.

If I want to look up STO builds, guides, fleets etc it's normally Pc related.

While I get that the console versions are a long way behind in many respects to the Pc version. I think having a separate forum under the Ps4 tab would make things a lot easier, clearer and user friendly..

The ONLY differences are the UI and the fact consoles are 3-4 months behind the PC timeline. Everything else in the forums IS relevant.

The only thing you need to seperate is platform 'Support', 'Feedback' and 'Academy'.

The problem the op is having is because say he asks a question, he will get a few pages of answers yes. but they all relate to PC. He might have one or two responses that are what he needs the rest since he is on Console is just vendor trash. At the least they could add a title block icon for PC xbox and PS4 The best solution is to seperate out the forums.

I've suggested this to posters before to display their platform within the post header. Easier and quicker than writing up new code to increase the forum categories. It's funny, and I don't mean to offend, that the people that are accusing Cryptic of being lazy or whatever, are themselves too lazy to press 3 or 4 keys, to which they then hammer out a wall of text.

Agreed I couldn't remember who it was that came up with the idea, So I just left it at that. That would make it so much easier for people to get the correct Information for thier platform.

Maybe get someone to sticky a thread asking people to add that info to all posts?

I agree. I think there should be separate forums for X-bone and PS4 players. I don't mind helping the genuinely new players from the filthy console peasantry, but considering just how different the versions of the game are to PC, I'm not exactly all that confident I could provide useful feedback without actually playing on the console myself, since my info might end up being inaccurate.​​

I am by no means a code writer but I have built forums for some of my old Wargaming and Tabletop games so I know it's far from impossible to add forums or even restructure existing ones to separate pc, xbox and ps4 within each category into sub-categories. But in the mean time adding which console or pc a post relates to would make things easier.

I played STO about 6 months after it came out on pc for a few months so there is indeed some similar aspects between the 3 platforms but there are also some big differences too. Like the way you train Bridge Officers..

I'll be happy with a console forum covering both ps4 and xbone, I'd be happier with each system having their own forum, but I'll be happy with just separating us from the pc.

So I can ask questions like, "why the *** is there an r&d news post on the console when consoles don't have r&d at this time?"

Easier and quicker doesn't mean better. Furthermore, headers take up space that could unnecessarily end up cutting off post titles. According to Cryptic's statistics, there are over a million STO console gamers. Don't they deserve their own forums? Isn't there enough profit from the console versions to afford it? I don't really mean to offend Cryptic's apologists but who's really being lazy?

Not quite. There is over a million STO Captains not over a million accounts. Cryptic hasn't revealed the important information like how many players have played the game or how profitable the game is.
