Did you install any other components? I ran the game on 2.0rc3 recently, and today switched to 2.0-staging with additionally installed dx10 and dx11, but the game still sees only 9 and 9ex.
No, I did activate csml in wine (one can only do that in staging). But that's all I'm aware of. In my case, the game does see the dx11.
Basically, when it crashed, I uninstalled it, reinstalled through POL copied the compiler to 47.dll and changed the wine version to 2.0rc5-staging. Haven't tested 2.0rc6 and 2.0.
I just saw that Wine 2.0 has been released. There is apparently still work being done regarding Direct3D, but they apparently already implemented a bunch of DirectX11 features. Also improves support on MAC, apparently, and more graphics card. So don't give up hope.

Been running STO on my late 2012 IMac (2.9gig i5 Quad Core, 8gigs RAM, El Capitan)) through PlayOnMac since the Mac client was discontinued. I had been using Steam, but since the last update I had a recurrence of the red X's. Went to running STO on it's own virtual drive.
I was unable to get the command line copy process to work (didn't like the path) so I just copied the Compiler_42.dll to my desktop, renamed it and placed the renamed file in the proper folder.
My POM setup is Wine 2.0 and Windows 10. The game is running fine although it is not seeing DX10 or 11. My graphics card is a GeForce GT 650M 512MB which is allegedly capable of handling DX12.
Also saw the info on WineHQ....all we can do is wait and see.
Anyone got sto to work in Wine 2.3? I compiled the source. Actually I got it to start detecting DirectX11 but the problem in the login screen. The ship and character appears but the windows shows then changes to a white black. The login splash shows. So, I think maybe shader issue with textures since the models shows.

Also, had to lower some settings and specially disable the lighting stuff, or it looked a bit hellish. Once donde that, works fine. For me, even less choppy than on windows, but at more cpu cost.

Yea, I've been playing since the march update shut stuff down because it finally worked with 2.0 and above. If you don't mind the graphical glitches it's not a big deal. Do not use 2.0 lighting though. It technically works better than it did before Dx9 was shut down as the memory leak seems to be gone. That or I haven't done enough instances to test it. It was always the major mission instances where you get your borg or other rep rewards that were the game killer for me.
I'm really hoping it gets better with each patch. I'm looking forward to seeing 2.4 and above. It's just taking along time for them to come out sadly.

Yea. It flakes out on the loading spash screen from ground to space or opposite. I think it's a issue on STO side with their history of bugs.
For me it ONLY runs under wine-devel (currently 2.4), assuming to see the character selection and when I select any character the game crashes. :[
I assume it's connected with d3dcompiler_47.dll which is not yet complete (the offroad-bugfix of copy/pasting the d3dcompiler_42.dll then renaming it to d3dcompiler_47.dll doesnt work anymore because Cryptic possibly entirely implented that certain file).
For now I cannot play STO anymore have to pause which is sad tho.
Let's hope for better times.

since I'm not using POL I'm forced to use wine-staging 2.4 which doesn't work with STO. I'm able to get into the character-selections with the wine-devel branch (also 2.4) but game crashes entirely when trying to enter

Could due to a different card.

I can post screenshoots.
I'm using 2.2-staging and it works, but at least on my system, cause Mesa reports an old version of OPENGL it needs a bit of trick to the wine/opengl launcher.

Maybe the few examples there can give you some help.
