I frequently Google ships and see what kinds of opinions players have on them. Most of the times people mention ships which obviously aren't available for us Xbox One users, yet. There's in game ads for the Odyssey pack, which appealed to me, but they're T5 ships. I see Cross Faction packs, but I currently only have a Federation character at level 57. Unless I can use the ships on my Federation character, I don't see the point of buying a cross faction pack. Just keeping up with some dailies and trying to hit up the PvE queues is pretty time consuming on one character, let alone one from each faction.
I know there's ships that many buy for their consoles, but I'm looking for a ship to use and try to maximize the DPS with. Playing on Xbox One is my first time playing STO and not fully grasping the intricacies of getting DPS maximized. I understand trying to stay with one type of weapon type so you can use multiple consoles to boost overall damage to that specific damage.
Any help, input from the PC players would be appreciated.

Dps? Many of the ships with intel seats are great for dps.
Tank? Any ship with command seats will be of help. A guy in my fleet on xb1 is near unkillable with the kelvin connie and theres another guy in the intel warbird that could pop almost anyone.
Thanks for the input. I actually lucked out and got the Kelvin Connie after $100 in lockbox keys, but haven't suited her up, yet. Intel seats? I think Xbox has a T6 Intel Ship Bundle, which includes the Scryer, Phantom, and Eclipse ships... is that worth picking up?
The Intels are pretty decent as they have 'active stealth' which increases in strength whilst you aren't fighting, and that's on top of it's cloak, although both can't be applied at the same time. They are good for situations where you need to get to a ship and other 'point' where you need to do something in the middle of a battle. Borg Disconnected is probably the best example where this ability works a treat. The 'Expose' abilities are good for applying extra debuffs and subsystem downtime on enemies. Intels basically weaken the enemy for 'easier' kills. You won't get uber-dps, but it's a worthy trade-off if you don't care for such things. If you do buy these, acquire the Fleet ship version of the one you like the best!
Intel ships (and intel seated ships) can do metric assloads of damage with Override Subsystem Safeties.
Command ships (command seated ships a bit less) actually can alter fights pretty dramatically and are good for torp users.
Pilot ships are fast, paper thin, and have a 4 direction boost to use. The powers are fun.
Temporal ships are phenomenal. The temp powers are slow and combo heavy but do neat things.
One of my favorite ships to use is the Vorgon ship with tons of tachyon related stuff.
Nukara DBB + console
nukara 3pc
temporal phase 3 pc
Cutting Beam + console
Tachyon Kinetic Converter
Polaric Modulator
Radient console
3 tetryon locators
the ship console
and the Samsara console for those oh TRIBBLE moments.
boff powers TT, FAW2+3, Kemo1, Grav Well 1, OSS 1 + 2 , EPTW 1+3, Engi team 2, Sci Team 1, TSS 2, APO3
It's outright hilarious how fast things die when they have no shields
If you just droped 100 on keys, do you have 900 lobi? If so, get the intel dreadnought in the lobi store.
I appreciate the other responses, as well. A lot of it sounds like stuff only available on PC right now. I also haven't finished the campaign, yet. I'm halfway through the Cardassian storyline right now... so don't have a lot of those items yet.
My day typically consists of Tour the Galaxy and mining for dilithium, then entering the PvE queues to rank up my reputations and gain full access to their stores. I know I should devote some time to completing the storyline.
Think once I finish the stories I'm
going to get bored with game so saving them for later after I build up my T6 ships and the captains up some. At least to Mark XI items.
Winter event in another month and half so between 3 toons, enough to keep me busy without finishing the stories yet.
