returning player need a little help

Hllo to all, i'm a returning player, i have been inactive for a very long time, the first time i played STO, was a few days after it went live, where we had all those bugs, that made game almost unplayable... still enjoyed a lot, pvp ques were full at any level, pve ques also the same, tons of players flying around, raging about the state of the game, and specially raging about how KDF was neglected, with almost no content compared to Feds.

Well... after around 6 months stoped playing, a few years later decided to come back, with a new account, sadly for some reason i dont understand my old email got blocked and was unable to get my old STO account, along with some other games. This was like 2 years ago... so i decided to come back again. I wonder how many beneficts i had if i still had my old account from those days now.

I still see some activity in chat, people playing etc, but pvp ques and pve ques are empty... well for my level anyway (42 atm with a KDF romulan char)
As i said above, i started with a romulan engi char sided with KDF, i always played KDF... but i dont know if i made the right choice as people in game told me, most play Tactical, with cannons (escorts for the most part) and Federation side.

Is this true? for game play, are KDF players in disadvantage? be them KDF or romulan sided with them?
and how about character choice? i mean... i know it depends on the play style of each, but investing time in a character no one cares about its not very good.

Anyway, thanks in advance and sorry for my english not being perfect.

No KDF isn't disadvantaged in any way, shape or form. You have over 100 episodes to play, just as every other iteration in the game. There is a huge community playing and the game is healthy. You're choice of character is almost irrelevant now as it's the skill tree that takes point now, on top of your equipment.
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.

Yes the queus are empty, tho its not cause small player base, actually people moved to DPS channels, so way to start PVEs, is to get to dps channels, tho those ones which aren't elite and advanced still can be runed, like featured ones Battle for Procyon, Days of Doom.

Yes people still complains about KDF and ROM, but they have similiar number of missions, thats feds have same number, while ROMs have more, at least what i readed at one post before several days here on forum.

Yes Romulans can/must align with Fed or KDF at mission Turning Point, tho you can play as Unaligned romulan, but thats more experiemnt then fun to play, and then can't join to fleet or nothing else. So its best to get in game, try all 3 factions and then do what you like most like PVEs, collecting stuff, building fleet, creating foundry contetnt, playing foundries, trying diffrent builds, etc, etc there is really lot of things to do

And welcome back and have fun :)

Sadly this has been the case for some time now. The reasons I can see are:

    - "Good" players tend to stick to themselves and pve in private. There, they can harvest the pve list with absurd effort/reward rations.

    - Veteran players do not “need” to play pve at all as they can utilize the Admiralty and Doff systems for maximum rewards thanks to their potent ship and doff decks.

    - “Bad” (new, undergeared, untalented) players use one of the many alternatives like stories or battlezones to farm their stuff. This is a bit slower but ways easier.

It realy comes down to the question “Do you WAN T to play pve with players that are probably not as good as you”. Only then you play queues, otherwise there are zero reasons. The general answer here is oviously "NO".

My advice to you is to find a community of players who like to pve in teams without the need for DPS competition. If you are unable to do that, pls mail me in game and I organize an invite to mine.

it exist, tho its hard to find someone who likes PVP, best place to try pvp is Ker'rat, tho there almost if not entirely are OP players, so it usually ends by Klingons decloaks at starboard or Feds decloaks and then click Respawn.

Tho by lvl 60 you get at other instance, so if you lucky you maybe get at same bellow lvl 60 counterpart, tho after reaching lvl 60 expect death decloaks :/ unless if you also one of "formidable" players :)

But theres a major upside to this too. People have the freedom to play how they like, this is what draws me to STO over so many other games and why I think STO is far ahead of the curve in the implementation of content.

"He shall be my finest warrior, this generic man who was forced upon me.
Like a badass I shall make him look, and in the furnace of war I shall forge him.
he shall be of iron will and steely sinew.
In great armour I shall clad him and with the mightiest weapons he shall be armed.
He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.
He is my answer to cryptic logic, he is the Defender of my Romulan Crew.
He is Tovan Khev... and he shall know no fear."
