This may have been suggested, probably even internally, but I felt the need to share.
Some people are not fans of the available camera distance options available through the Cycle Camera Distance function. This could be solved by changing the function to.. well, have it work like so:
1. Open menu
2. Press A/X (Xbox/PS4) to select Set Camera Distance (the new name of the function)
3. Hide the menu, but keep normal controls disabled, and enable the right analog stick Y-axis to change the camera distance in a slide (up for closer, down for farther), rather than at specific stopping points
4. Wait until the user presses A/X again, set the camera at that distance, and Show the menu again
Easy peasy. Or maybe add this as an additional menu function right below the current one.
It might also be good to make sure that this distance is maintained through a play session, but I imagine that's a little more involved, depending on how it's set up.

Have you ever been involved in software development of any kind? Nothing is "easy peasy" when it comes to programming of this kind, especially with the Cryptic engine which the game is currently using.
While you idea is good functionally, as someone with experience with software development, I can say that the solution internally is nowhere as simple as you seem to think it is.
