What is the Arc Client?
Install Arc

People are trying to sell Energy credits and Master Keys for real money.

I have had some issues with the game but the support center had been very helpful and nice; however its is getting tiresome seeing people making alt accounts and trying to illegally sell in-game items for real money. I try to help the community on the xbox 1 but makes it hard when you have spammers. I would like a permanent block or console bane for those who are on this game just to take advantage of others.

    Great idea.

Bots are notorious difficult to get rid of, but a good start is to report those ingame messages as spam.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

Spammers are annoying but you should have the ability to report people for naughty behavior. If the report button is not tied into the message system directly (not sure on the Xbox) then work through the Xbox live service (go to the gamer profile of the offending player/account, scroll down to the bottom. Xbox live's enforcement team is pretty active and this behavior is against the TOU of the service too, not just STO.)

Tell me about it, I mean why should I risk getting in trouble buying a Master Key for $1 when just 0.25 cents more I an buy one from Cryptic lol

Reporting fake accounts does nothing. You can block them, but reporting fake and/or TRIBBLE accounts, doesn't absolutely nothing, as they'll just hack more accounts (from people who were stupid enough to buy their items and currency), or make another fake account and keep spamming.. If we were to spend our time doing that, that'd be all we'd be doing. We wouldn't have time to even play the game itself..

Why is it so freakin' hard for these developers, to look at other developers for solutions?

Look at World of Warcraft and the add-on you can get for that game? It blocks gold sellers 100%, period. I've been using that add-on since the ones behind that add-on released it, back in 2005-06.

Console doesn't have the "only accept PMs from people I've friended and people in fleet" option?

There's no way to block them using any conventional method: they're too well funded.

    - You block the user, they create more user accounts.
    - You block the console, they sell the banned console and buy new ones.
    - You IP ban them, they use a proxy, VPN or relocate their business to get a new IP.
    - You put in an autoban that looks for key phrases like "MMOTANK", they use censor bypass methods to avoid it.

Seriously, without a lawsuit from Cryptic or Sony, they simply won't stop and anything you do (like blocking that user) will only work for amfew hours since they make new accounts all the time. I tried blocking them, and I wound up with 15 nonsense accounts bloating out the limited block space we have.

I take it from your comment that you are referring to a 3rd party add-on, cryptic would never allow 3rd party hacks to their game code.
you know there is nothing I can do about the junk mail I get through my letterbox either and I get a lot more of that then I get gold seller spams, I just treat spam the same way I treat junk mail at home as just a fact of life and just bin the stuff and it is forgotten just as quickly, if you spend any time fretting over junk mail or make a big deal of it you will end up going crazy not just in game but in real life as well.

When I think about everything we've been through together,

maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

and if that journey takes a little longer,

so we can do something we all believe in,

I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

Ok well xbox bots and pc bots are a little different. What they are doing is creating alt accounts yes however that alt is still linked to the xbox and if they get Microsoft help/support they can bane then for illegal transaction but on pc their is no other company they would have to go through and can bane accounts freely.

They most likely are banned quite frequently. There has to be a reason why this person creates new accounts every day and uses censor bypass methods in their spam. Not only that but only a PS4/XBox One can connect to those networks and only one connection can be made per console. Consider now how many bots there are being run simultaneously by the same company around the clock on both STO and Neverwinter and it becomes clear they're running a sweatshop with lots of consoles, so replacing them isn't a big deal even if they're banned.

And given the vast amount of games they spam, surely they will have encountered every form of technological block at some point, yet have found the holes in the system that let them persist. That is why it will literally take legal action to stop them.
