Starfleet Battleship Typhoon.

Starfleet seems to the be the faction without a playable Battleship. Like the Typhoon battleships that were in the pc as place holders for Phontic ships. They did mention If they got enough request it might happen. I really like the ship if they could bring it out on Ps4 it would be sweet or Pc for that matter. They said it would be classed as a Dreadnought from what I read in the past. I for one would love to get that ship that simple. I always wanted one since I played on PC but never happened.

Won't happen, as of now all traces of the Typhoon have been eradicated.
FYI, they weren't just placeholders in the photonic fleet, they were proper starfleet npc ships that would spawn here and there. They were just outright replaced by the starfleet command cruisers and photonic fleet was just the last thing that got updated with them.

I think it will happen, eventually, but the KT Fed ships, and the Command Battlecruisers, the roles for it have been thinned out.

Incorrect on some of the information about the Typhoon the Mirror Verse version is still in the game as I been told from Cryptic and also we would need support for this ship to be added if enough players request it and support the idea it would be considered easily added. The typhoons as photonic were over powered Cryptic said in an E-mail they removed them to balance out the game since those. Starfleet needs there Battleships all other factions have one. I for one would want the main line ship in the game as stated it was a main line ships from Cryptic. They said they would consider adding them once before when the cap went to lvl 60 It was in a post of theres if the players requested them. I for one want a battleship as a Starfleet Captain. The new ships for Photonic fleet is weak as heck. They said the Typhoon from a earlier article that the ship would be classed as a Dreadnought.

It's simply a label. Since Starfleet does avoid "military" labels they call their "Battleships" simply "Explorers" (the heaviest class they have like the Galaxy class) or maybe "Star cruiser". But for some people using a different terminology is something that severly damages their egos, hence the constant call for "Marines", "Battleships", "Battlecruisers" (Cryptic gave Starfleet Battelcruisers, but they wouldn't have called them that lorewise) and so on.​​

And yet at the same time the biggest, meanest Federation ships are still called Dreadnoughts. Starfleet is a military organisation, they just do a half-assed job of hiding it.

Such ships are the closest thing they have to a 5 tac, 5 fwd gun ship that isn't an escort/raptor. Even the Klingons don't have anything bigger than a Raptor with that combination. As things stand, the Romulans with the Scimitar and its variants have a monopoly on large ships with great forward firepower and full load of tac consoles. Outside of cross-faction vessels, the Feds and Klingons have a compromise on firepower vs durability simply due to the layouts of the ships they have.

The day that a true counterpart to the T6 Scimitar arrives for either faction (I'm thinking Klingons for obvious reasons), they're going to become very popular. Much as I enjoy flying the Mat'Ha I would love to meet its bigger brother

The explicitly aren't. And the only canon Dreadnought is the Dreadnought Class from ID, which is a Section 31 ship, not Starfleet.​​

Wrong on calling it a label and there is one starfleet ship that's not labeled like the rest its called the Chimera Destroyer. If the game has it then the Typhoon needs to be added as a playable ship. Can you say the the Destroyer is explorer ship? I think not since it name implies its made fighting. The Typhoon would be nice to have despite Cryptic removing them was the wrong idea. Do you see a battleship class in phontics anymore nope they nerfed it and it was not a place holder. The typhoon was a hard hitting phontic and was hard to destroy maybe in pvp it was op but pve it was right. Cryptic said in one article if there is enough demand then they will most likely add it as a playable ship. I will get the link once I locate it. They thought about adding after the 60 rnk. Well we still deserve the Typhoon in my opinion and waiting for them to bring it back to STO where it belongs. The typhoon may not be fancy but it was a main line ship is Starfleet. It derseves to in the list of ships with no questions asked. I would like an older ship not some newer weird odd looking one. I already seen the newer ships but only thing I like flying is my Destroyer or my Guardain Cruiser.

while i know there has to be balance between factions, i also like the idea of uniqueness for each faction. like back in the days when the battle cloaking device was only for the KDF side.

The Typhoon will return show the Devs theres enough demand for it. I haven't seen another ask the dev thread yet. I hope the Devs will respond atleast to the thread already.

I'm imagining it as a "poor-man's Vengeance", so to speak; same weapon and console layout, minus the Gather Intel and Cloaking abilities, and a Lt. Universal/Command seat instead of TempOp. That way, it still sets it apart from the Vengeance. Give it an OP console and trait and put it on the C-Store and I guarantee people will buy it (I would, and I own a Vengeance) as it serves as an-easier-to-get Vengeance substitute for those who don't want to go through lockboxes to get enough Lobi to get one, or grind EC to buy one off the exchange...

Plus, the last two Fed dreadnoughts introduced were from alternate timelines, or the future. Give the current timeline some love again...

Still waiting on our typhoon Cryptic. Don't ignore the players on it. You keep adding so many new timeline dreadnuaghts how about something from our current time like Tiberius183 stated. I for one still see one Typhoon in the game to see it still staying strong go to fludic space and you will see the U.S.S Stardancer still there.
