More customization options for Vulcans

This is just a simple request for cryptic to add more customization options for vulcans, particularly adding the Romulan hairstyles 2 and 3 for males. The Vulcan NPCs in the actual vulcan zones have more customization than the players do, notably there is no green tinted flesh color and theres a lack of iconic Vulcan hairstyles. The Romulan 2/3 styles are 100% interchangable with Vulcans...but Vulcans don't have access to this look.

I think this has more to do with the deliberate seperation of the characterizations of Romulans from Vulcans, than it does with player freedom to create what you want. Some items are sterotypical of a race in the game and are generally only available to that race and not to others. Some things are unlockable, but not everything. Unless I'm mistaken, the hairstyles you're pointing to are strictly Romulan in design, not Vulcan, so would never be used by a Vulcan willingly unless they are disguised as a Romulan. They wouldn't be available for the Vulcan in ordinary Star Trek, so they wouldn't be available in STO.

The reverse is also true, that Romulans could dress as Vulcans without any problems - you could still tell they were Romulans. But Vulcans dressed as Romulans, were thought to be Romulans...

Of course you could just as well say that they don't feel like letting Vulcans use those items and leave it at that.

Hairstyle restrictions are not quite the peak of restriction stupidity in STO, but pretty close.

*shrug* They won't allow you to cross-faction key elements of a faction character. Hairstyles, uniforms, etc.

This is no different from taking the tail from a Caitan and wanting to apply it to a Fed Human.

There are Vulcans on the actual Vulcan zone in game wearing the hairstyle i'm asking they give us, they still look vulcan...a few even have green tinted skin. I'm not talking about the pointed forehead hairstyles either, i'm talking about the spock type hairstles. Right now all Vulcans have in the way of a traditional vulcan style is the TOS spock look. Which means any Vulcan player who wants to play a traditional looking vulcan is stuck looking like a Spock clone. Go to the Vulcan zone and look at some of the NPCs i'm talking about, I guarantee if you go make a Vulcan character you won't be able to get the same look.

Truth. Haven't toyed with the Vulcans in a while. Doesn't discount the rest of it.

I get that they want some options to be species specific, but honestly, I'd rather they open up hairstyles (and beards for that matter) for all humanoid species. There's no reason that someone on Vulcan can't get a haircut that is in vogue on Romulus, other than the scandal that it would probably invoke, but that's a character choice.

However, I also understand the incredible amount of work it must be to make sure that all of these hairstyles work with all of the variations of heads and such that we have access to within the very robust character creation/tailor system that Cryptic has built of us. Especially in the Alien Generator. It's probably the reason we don't see that many new hairstyles introduced, while Champions has new hairstyles hitting the C-Store all the time.

I'd love for them to add some time to the schedule to address the many issues with the tailor, such as clipping, linked color palettes, missing items, maybe finally get the TOS Gorn options working, so they can kick that off of the known issues list after three months (and for the love of Q, can we finally get the Caitian hair so many people want!). The Tailor system needs a lot of work honestly.

But sadly, there's stuff that's been broken in there since Beta, so I don't think we'll see any improvements anytime soon.

Regardless, I support the right of every Vulcan to get their hair styled in the fashions of their Romulan brothers and sisters.

It would bring them one step closer to fulfilling Ambassador Spocks dream of Unification.

I'm suddenly reminded of that old movie where men lived on one planet and women on another. They were constantly at war, using cloning tech to reproduce. Then some of the guys started dressing like the women in order to reunify their worlds.

Bah, most non-standard head shapes don't allow hair at all.

Champions has all kinds of weird heads, too. Champions is just not at all overprotective about outfit parts fitting together. You're pretty much free to combine anything you want. I can only assume the people in charge there think players are smart enough to...not use a particular combination if they don't like the way it looks.
