I am having no luck with linking my account to the Xbox one. This really sucks because my PC is down and I have spent quite a bit in the C-store over the years. Is there any guidance on getting past account linking issues?
Well looks like I'll never play again. I've been a member since day one and now I only have a Mac... so no game there and now non of my account stuff is coming over to Xbox1 might as well just give up on Arc fixing anything and actually giving their paying customers what they want... and I've paid a hell of a lot of money over the years!
I too can't link my account,i am prepared to play this game from the start instead of my 2 year old character, but i would like to see my account privileges extent to the Xbox.i payed enough ingame to warrant this option.
null The linking on console just links your arc profile with your game console profile. I think u get a free kahn outfit again on console for doing it. It's most likely for demographic purposes or maybe in the future they will have true account linking or other giveaways. I don't see any incentive for them to give u the purchases on pc for use on console. There is also no sub on console just a lifetime bundle that can be bought with zen and is different than the pc one. The games are somewhat different in terms of any porting too. Just ask yourself what's in it for Cryptic?
Gold Sub since March 2010
Lifetime Sub since June 2010
The benefit to cryptic is that previous subscribers, spenders and even veterans of the pc will be enjoying the console version more. Veterans are more likely to help and teach those new to STO and those helped are alot more likely to see the value of purchasing zen for items. Frankly as it stands now, any one who is going from pc to console on sto is more likely to tell others to not waste their money because cryptic is coming across greedy by making us repurchase anything we have before. Console players are normally not likely to buy lifetime subscription unless others tell them how cool or how much it will benefit them. As it stands now any previous lifetime is more likely to say its not worth it since they have to repurchase it.
Being able to link accounts and share between the pc and console our purchases is a great way for cryptic to show their appreciation for our previous purchases and let us feel our money is worth giving them and that what we buy has real value to us. Making sure your paying base of players feel like they are appreciated will do nothing but increase their sales and gain new members who in turn will more likely pay for zen as they hear all us veterans talk about the ships and items we are using in the console rather than what we used to fly and use but don't now because we felt cryptic got greedy.
I'm actually utterly disappointed. I just loaded up Star Trek Online on PlayStation 4 and I have not got any of my Zen purchases or lifetime membership privileges and I was looking forward to being able play with my friend that I have convinced to download the game and help with the skill point bonus to level to max and play through the PvE queues with. Utterly disappointed!
I was really hoping to be able to come back and play STO with my characters, vet perks, lifetime sub blah blah. I was under the impression, foolishly, that if I created an Arc account and they linked it to my old Cryptic account and then linked the account to my Xbox Live account that there would be a reason for doing so. Apparently, there isn't. I'd be willing to pay a fee to transfer characters, items.......whatever, something, anything. I'm not starting over after all the time and money that I've already spent on this game. That would be foolish.
I sent my final ticket last night explaining that I still haven't got my old characters, etc transferred over. This is my first time actually saying this in a help ticket. Last night, after sending said ticket, I also started seeing Reddit posts and others about characters and items not transferring over from pc to Xbox One. It sucks but I haven't played STO in 3-4 years because my gaming pc tanked completely, like smoke and sparks. I was really looking forward to STO again but I guess it wasn't meant to be.
On a side note, the CS reps have been super helpful up to this point. There's only so much they can do and I assumed more than was explained, apparently.
---edit--- I will probably play it casually off and on, now that I think about it.
I would have to say I am very disappointed in the direction they took the console version of this game. It is incredibly frustrating to find out that my progress will not transfer over from my PC account but also my purchases. I have been a member on STO for years now and love the game. I've been greatly looking forward to seeing a console version of it come out for 3 years now for hopes of playing with friends that either may not have a PC to play this game or don't like PC gaming in general. Now that it comes out, I find out that account linking is a joke.
I can get past that my progress and some of my purchase will not transfer over to my Xbox account and I can fully understand why they can't do that seeing that is not a cross plat form game. What I cannot understand and very irritated about is the $300+ I spent to get a lifetime membership on my PC account just to find out I have to pay another insane amount to get a lifetime membership on my Xbox account. You would think they would at least make it so existing Lifetime Members would be able to share their benefits on both the PC and the Xbox considering the amount of money they put into purchasing the membership.
I would like to see the Development Team take this into consideration and at least find a way to have an option to carry over you Membership from the PC to the Xbox so that they are linked and will not have to be purchased again. Not saying that you will be able to get double the benefits because you have it on "Two Accounts" but make it so it is shared and you can pick where you use your benefits... either on your PC account or your Xbox. As for the progress of the PC account on the Xbox Account, like someone suggested earlier. At least give an option to transfer your progress from the PC to the Xbox. I am sure a lot of us would be willing to pay a small fee (key being small) on transferring our progress from the PC to the Xbox. Kind of like what Blizzard does when you want to transfer your account from one server to the other in WoW. You don't have to do it, but if you do you have to pay for it and you will not be able to keep your progress on two different servers. You will have to chose between the two.
I know it isn't a perfect suggestion but I know it will also calm a lot of veteran members down and leave them a little less disappointed in the game they have supported all these years. I know for myself that I love this game enough to spend money outside my membership for it and I am sure others have too. I think it would be nice to receive the above options. At least the membership linking/sharing (not transfer) between PC and Xbox account as a thank you.
