It is bad etiquette for a Captain to make flatulence noises and shout smell my gas every time the ship dumps warp plasma

    No, because Trek (and most media Sci-Fi) has taught us that sound effects travel in a vacuum...

    Just remember that the enemy has to be in the cloud when you're doing this. Otherwise the gasses don't get into the shielded ship...
