console PvP

in recent News here I read:
The challenge of PVP combat awaits you as well. Test your mettle against other starship captains in a number of tactical battle engagements throughout the galaxy.

well that either means that PvP gets a long overdue revamp or it's basically a "selling some half-bottomed and outdated part of the game as something Special".... my guess is the latter

Probably just another bullet point for marketing. Although with a fresh, clean server who knows, it might evolve differently. Console game players tend to be more pvp oriented.

More likely the same old stuff. And a marketing point to get more players. We all know the PVP is horrible on the game and they hadn't touched it in years on any updates. Most games usually have new maps and updates when they bring out new expansions.

agreed but console players expect PvP... nothing better when a klink BC bashs a fed.. o_O

Most players do expect PVP. Even on computers, but this game has thought otherwise. WoW is big on PVP. They create gear just for it, new maps all the time, etc.

Given that Fleet Holdings System, Research and Development System, Admiralty System, Duty Officer System are all going to be missing at launch, I'm betting that haven't touched the PvP stuff beyond ensuring the end-match Leaderboard works.

That is an insane amount of stuff missing. I guess if you want Vanilla PvP you could just hop over to the console, where the only power leap available are Starship Traits (4 max) and Specializations, with just the Keldon and Jem'Hadar ships for the lockbox line up.

Edit: Wait a minute... No R&D means no Upgrade crafting... the Cardassian-Dominion Lock Box comes with Universal Prototype Tech Upgrades as a potential prize, so only whales are going to have a full load out of Mk XIV gear...

You hit the nail on the head there.

I think it's worth noting that when it comes to the consoles, players likely won't have access to the following items right away:

    -Lock box weapons and consoles
-promotional ships (stuff like the Jem'hadar attack ship/strike ship)
    -C-store ships (including traits)
    -no fleet tactical consoles

What I assume they haven't mentioned that I'm guessing will be there is the Reputation system and the specialization system (the new skill tree is set up like this so it's not hard for them to add this in). However since these are both level 50+ systems, they won't impacting right away. The most impact will be the pre-specialization boff abilities.

most probably they count on it being fun in the first place, with only rep-stuff to ruin the fun. later on, with the implementation of all the other systems, it will get down the same road like it already did for pc...
u may set this in stone lol...

I assume they haven't mentioned the fact they haven't touch PvP since 2013. As soon as console players discover the truth of how broken and unbalanced the PvP system actually is. Then I will enjoy reading the rant posts on the Xbox and PS4 forums. Console gamers are a big PvP community. Cryptic thinks we're bad at pointing this out. Jut wait, we'll look like angels compared to the console players.
