If a mode doesn't work, switch modes then switch back to the mode you want.

No offense, but advice such as this makes it seem like it's 'the' simple answer to fixing all pets, when it isn't. Pets are broken, have been broken for a very long time. Workarounds half-work at best.

Just now did a mirror invasion on a Sci Rom-fed in a Flambard using stock pets. Entire match the 6 pets were 'there' but failed to respond to any carrier commands, failed to attack any ship, failed to take any damage, and when clicked on their icon popped up briefly before fading. I literally had zero pet support all match.

The pet Delta Rising scaling was supposed to be about hull hit points. Instead, all pets and saucers and multi-vectors got nerfed all round. Then post nerf, we got wing commander and scramble fighters in toon-bound lockboxes as traits, and now some more damage buffs with the skill revamp at the expense of other more important places to spend skill points.

The procedure for pets therefore has been nerf, and resell some back later, attempt some fixes and explanations, then ignore the issue altogether after that.

I did a mirror invasion today and my pets worked fine (Elite Epoch Fighters are not subtle you know when they're working its very visable).

That only works if your pets aren't stuck in "dock no matter what" mode.

I've had this happen quite frequently after using the recall command and then lanching them again. They stay broken for the rest of the mission and have absolutely 0 use. They will launch then immediately dock, sometimes not disappearing.

Maybe they should stop launching new ships with hangars until the combat pets AI gets fixed?

Or maybe people should stop buying Carrier Pet using ships until the combat pet AI gets fixed?

Iconians reply would probably work to this suggestion just as well.

No, you get an entirely different reply.

Yeah, if people would stop buying carriers with broken pet AI, maybe Cryptic would have some incentive to actually fix the pet AI in a more timely manner.

As it stands, people will completely leap at the chance of getting these new carrier ships without thinking twice or considering that their new T6 version of ships we already have in the game won't come with improved pet AI.

People will fork over money hand over fist for broken ships, so Cryptic sees no reason to make it a priority fix.

The quality of STO is based on at least two things. Cryptic's workmanship and player spending habits. If players are willing to spend ludicrous amounts of money for substandard workmanship, then Cryptic has no motivation to increase the quality of their product.

... like re-distributing the JHEC and JHDC in T6 flavor with the same dumb pet AI.

So, really, if you want to be fair. Players have at least 50% to do with the problem as much as Cryptic does.

    Buyer beware.

Actually it'd probably be more like people stop buying carriers because of broken pet AI so cryptic gives a collective shrug and stops selling them.

They tried before, the fix didn't work.. They gave up.

Didn't they nerf pet damage at one point? Made them "useless" according to many? Now we know why. After all, if nobody uses them because they're useless then nobody will complain about them being bugged.

They seem absolutely determined to make Carriers obsolete.

Seems like it. The way I see it as soon as they made certain cruisers have hangers and made carriers universal to all factions they pretty much killed them off. I mean if pets are gonna drop like flies and everything else is gonna have one hanger bay. At least make ships that are carriers unique in some aspect, give them extra hanger bays or something so we can spam pets. Make them true carriers.

No, the console players will get a new lockbox with reskinned copies of the old Dreadnought carrier and Escort carrier.

I agree that it would be nice to get something extra for using a carrier, since you lose a weapon slot for each hanger-bay on your ship (with carriers having two bays they lose two weapon slots), and so it would be nice to get something in compensation for it. Though most consider that the pets themselves in their current state are not good enough compensation for losing those weapon-slots for having a hanger-bay/s on your ship. As such you could add things like carrier/hanger-consoles that are used for buffing your hanger-pets (maybe applying a portion of your console-bonuses to your pets), while then putting in a carrier-specific console-slot/s that you can only slot these carrier consoles into, while tying how many of these slots a carrier/hanger-bay using ship has to the type they are (battle-cruisers might have 2-3, escort carriers might have 1, and full on carriers having 3-4) This might take more work thru coding an such, but would give a boost to both hanger-pet's effectiveness, as well as buff the value of having a hanger-bay on a ship compared to a weapon slot making it a more equal trade.
