Hey fellow STO players,
I want to try and get a feel from the community of any burning issues, or even what would you like to see come into the game in the future. This can be furthering an already existing in game system or possibly a new system that you have thought of that you would like to get in the game.
The only thing I ask is to be reasonable. If something is totally out of the question or just ridiculously not acceptable or likely to make it into the game for whatever reason then please don't put them here! Thanks.
I plan on compiling a list from all replies here that I get from the community and keeping them for the next Dev interview that we hold on Priority One Podcast, most likely with the Lead Designer of Star Trek Online Al "CaptianGeko" Rivera.
Thank you all in advance and I look forward to see what you guys come up with!

Pretty sure that's been a burning issue for a pretty long time.
Yup. Summer/winter event ships are account unlocks, so it'd be nice if the MI/CC/Breach main rewards get a similar treatment.
JUST the main rewards, the weapon/kit module/console/card/whatever, not the dil or marks. That way the people who want to run it on multiple characters still have incentive to do so.
DS9 revamp please and would you be able to mention Player housing? not sure if that a big ask or not.
Cheers
^This.
Really want to get a Crystaline Torpedo, Shotgun, and Agony Rifle for my Temporal Recruit. Impossible with the current system.
I'll add it to the list but I'm pretty sure that the response will be a absolute no. The idea of those events is to bring people to the game and give them something to do. If everyone has lets say 3 toons then it's more time for them in game if they want to get the reward on all their toons. As they say, they want cheeks in seats!

The DS9 revamp is definitely on the list. I know that there is a date that it has to be done by, but that just suggests it needs to be done for some unknown upcoming content. As for player housing, I'll add it to the list and try my best to get an answer.
I'm afraid that he would say one of two things. Either (A) It already exists in the game in the form of your personal quarters available on all our starships. Or (B) that it is the same as "Bridges". As in it's not something that they are willing to invest time into as there is no return on investment.

thanks for asking, also (from other posts I've read) some sort of separate bank system for non combat pets as there are just too many these days and they are taking a large volume of bank space.
No problem, your next question has actually been asked before. If I remember right there is some issue doing something like that or it has something to do with tribbles themselves and they way they work in the back-end of the game. I'll add it however but it will be near the end of the list. I hope that's okay but since it has been asked before, it doesn't really have high priority. However I do think there is nothing wrong with bringing it up again!

It would be necessary to avoid forcing anyone into PvP, (carebears don't want to ruin their shiny new paint jobs!) To that end I'd say it should be an 'opt in' situation as opposed to an 'opt out'. Fleet Leadership would have to actively seek enemies and allies and register them as such. There would be no way for players who are not in a fleet registered as hostile to their foes to attack or otherwise inflict damage. It would likewise be impossible to invite non-allies to join the battle.
When you meet a foe on a Sector Space Map you cannot attack, but you can drop out of warp and engage in combat on a generic open space PvP map. If on a team, they can join you on that map. This would allow players to call for reinforcements. Players forced to respawn go to their Fleet Starbase and cannot rejoin that combat.
If on a system map, the players of mutually hostile fleets can engage one another, but cannot engage or even 'accidentally' harm a player who is not involved. Uninvolved players may observe the battle if they so choose.
If on a Fleet Starbase Map, those defenses you buy for your base can help, and can be destroyed, (requiring further donations and project slotting to rebuild if applicable.) Since there is a huge advantage to defending, attacking forces may 'steal' resources currently slotted for a project if they gain control of the Fleet Starbase System. Projects already filled and counting down to completion cannot be disrupted, but open projects can be robbed of 1/10 of what has been donated, which resources they can use for whatever they choose.
This would also apply to ground PvP. In fact, I would require anyone who wishes to steal resources to actually land on the starbase, (where the captains of the ships which were destroyed respawn,) and defeat the Fleet Starbase' defenders before they can claim their loot.
I actually already had PvP included on the list that I've put together. I'll add your idea of fleet vs fleet as I believe that is something that has been talked about a lot by the community down through the years. I do like the detail you go into though!

Looking for a fun PvE fleet? Join us at Omega Combat Division today.
2) Any chance they could make the R&D Items appear at the BOTTOM of your sell list? Most people wouldn't be selling R&D stuff to an NPC *and* it's the "second page" of your inventory, seems silly to have everything in it show up first to sell.
3) Any chance of making the consumables that you can buy for up to 300 at a time stack to more than 20?
4) Could they make access to your characters bank available from your ship like Account Bank is?
5) Would they *please* stop all the dang pop -up windows? (Example: It's a bit silly to have the store open with Philip Cray and to have the window pop up with him saying he'll contact you if anything goes wrong with the timeline, but it's just fine right now.)
6) In the same line as #5 - could they please stop making (and possibly remove) the cut-scenes in the middle of fights and in Event Missions?
7) As noted above a few times- more Account Wide Unlocks. I know I spend more time in game if I WANT to not if I feel "herded" to do so.
Basically - "Quality of Life" stuff is what I'm interested in. Which, in all games I've played seems to help with the "butts in seats"
Thank you for doing this.
I'm afraid I'm going to have to ask you to elaborate on exactly what you mean. Thanks!

1) I honestly can't see them doing anything about this. I apologize for being blunt but it probably just isn't important enough.
2) Definitely adding this as a QoL improvement. Thanks for the reminder!
3) I'll add this one to the list but be warned it will be near the bottom.
4) I can say with some certainty that this one will not happen. I believe the reason is that it would take away from the "Social Zones", if my memory serves me correctly. Sorry!
5) I'll add this one to the list but probably near the bottom. I hope I understand what it is that you are referring to.
6) I can definitely see where you are coming from with this one. I suspect though that it is part of their strategy to keep you in missions for a set amount of time. I'll definitely add the question in some form.
7) Already added!

We will be having our interview with the Lead Designer Al "CaptainGeko" Rivera in the coming weeks so be sure to keep an eye on Priority One Podcast! No doubt this thread will get buried in the coming days but I will try and dig it up and make a quick post to let you all know when the interview will be released.
Again, thank you so much to everyone who submitted questions. I think it is very important get input from the community and try and bring it to the attention of the developers.

l don't know.
l really don't know what l'm about to say, except l have a feeling about it.
That l must repeat the words that come without my knowledge.'
At the moment I feel only Terrans, Undine and Vaadwuar are the only ones who pose credible threats in space.
Yeah, I think prejudging Geko/Cryptic's response to questions people have put forward isn't particularly helpful. I understand your desire to respond to points raised here, and to avoid creating unrealistic expectations on the part of contributors, but it seems there is pretty strong support for this idea - which has been put forward in quite a few threads previously.
In my personal experience, if you ask Person A a question on behalf of Person B, but you expect that Person B is going to say no - you often (out of embarrassment, etc) subconsciously phrase the question in such a way that does not put Person's A case forward effectively, and gives Person B an easy way of rejecting it. Given there is strong support for this proposal, I think its worth putting it forward to Cryptic.
For clarity:
No-one is actually suggesting that the dilithium/marks/etc rewards be account wide. That would be disproportionate. Those who want these rewards on multiple chars should have to do the event on multiple chars. Simple.
Similarly, no-one is suggesting that people who did not do a particular event should suddenly gain access to the time-limited rewards. So if I missed out on the Cochrane Shotgun event completely - there is no reason I should now gain access to it.
All that is actually being suggested is that the special items - be it the Cochrane Shotgun, Crystalline Torpedo, ISS Stadi, etc, be added to the account wide reclaim store (or some similar system) for those that actually earned them during the relevant event.
This would preserve the 'time limited exclusivity' principle - whilst addressing things like people's new Delta and Temporal Recruits being unable to use items like the Cochrane Shotgun. I think this is a fair and proportionate solution, which has a precedent in the way the summer/winter/anniversary event rewards were handled.
Any ideas on how to revitalize old queues that are hardly played anymore?
Can we expect more old ships to get the temporal treatment like the Constitution class did? (NX class, Oberth, Miranda...)
What are your plans to adress the rampant power creep?
There was some talk in the past about the possibility of being able to chose your modifiers when you craft equippement. Is this feature gonne be implemented in the near future?
2. More 23c content (or at least let us visit social hubs from 23c through captains table portal magic thing by ESD)
3. Account/personal mini-fleet holdings (think deep space provision stations. I mean come on, MANY players have 10+ chars on one of their accounts, and having your own fleet sometimes works. not everybody wants to be FORCED to join a fleet just to get fleet ships. This would be easy to implement, just take off the 5-seperate-players needed to create a new fleet or something)
To add to that, are previously fixed bugs going to stop being reintroduced? Especially with things like hangar pets that were working fine, then broke, then got fixed, then broke, then got improved and fixed, and are now broke again.
1. Interface Generated FPS Lag
2. Console Activation Delays/Failures (all console powers)
3. Excessive polygons in Delta Rising missions and new STFs leading to very low FPS
4. Character Faces persistent low texture problem on toon hops
5. Pet carrier commands not functioning
6. A.I. of pets and separated ship units poor
What I'd Like to See:
7. STF rewards that scale with mission length, difficulty
8. More STFs, variety in STF scenarios, more end-game content
9. More social zones: Betazed, Ferenginar, Reman city on New Romulus, alternate timeline Romulus, expanded Bajor, Cardassia, etc.
10. More Romulan content: T6 Science Warbird, Romulan Faction-only Fleets & fleet Facilities, Faction Independence
11. Individual failure conditions in STFs (optionals & mandatory objectives that don't all impact the team)
12. Enhanced enemy NPCs: Improved A.I., mobility, make use of more game powers (feedback pulse, gravity wells, etc.)
13. Global increased cool-down of all non-Captain abilities with matching decrease in enemy NPC hit-points to slow gamepace and reinstate more strategy and team play (pre-DR gameplay)
14. More playable species: see link
15. PvP with optional balanced tiers
16. Exploration
17. Diplomacy
18. Non-Combat mission objectives: search and rescue, environmental hazards, navigation, scavenge resources, long-distance travel
19. Cross-faction teaming
Bugs:
some bugs are annoying, others hardly noticeable, others are basically not giving players what they paid for - ie not receiving the lifetimer benefit for TOS toons (ie T5 ship token and Dil refining- that one really upsets me, esp as I have reported it 3 times already)
I guess the LAG and Server not responding we get since the last Expansion also Counts as Bugs. I generally get a 30 second wait every time I Change maps. That! is! unacceptable!
inbalance
since Delta rising we can get T6 ships and upgrade gear to Mk XIV...new skills and ships have been very unbalanced. Before Delta rising, Pugs DPS would be from 5k to 30k - and PvEs were built for that. Now pug DPS ranges from 5k to 100k DPS and PvE requirements changed. You should be in the range of 10k plus to compete - and not everybody who joins advanced Queues does meet the requirements. Which in turn leads to pug-queues not filling up as quickly. While new skills and ships probably improved sales it also damaged the game imo - now I love the new skills...I just think that they were implemented without testing. Which also explains the LAG for command skills when they came out.
Around Delta rising PvP went from "sickly" to "dead" - maybe also due to the above mentioned inbalance. Maybe because the game became too much of pay to win -> fewer ppl playing, Queues go dead.
Devs seem to think that their game is such a load of bollcks that they give admirality bigger rewards than you'd get for PLAYING the game. yes, for admirality it's good to have more ships, so open your wallet...and don't bother playing because we know the game is buggy... yes, you get up to 15k xp for one admirality Mission and 3k xp for one PvE. And you can get over 100 specialisation Points...
There have been a few very good changes recently - like BOFF Training, new skill Points, new skills (I like them, but they should be more balanced/tested), crafting.
At the Moment there are certain requirements to fulfill if you want to enjoy the game:
- pay a lot of Money
- don't play the game
- play as Federation
What I'd like to see?
-Playable Cardassians/Dominion (like Romulans, choose between KDF and FED)
-drop the 2 faction System. Allow Players to join up crossfaction. Factions still get their own starbase and missions, but otherwise do everything crossfaction playable (may Need to redo some PvEs, but not neccesarily)
-revamped PvP. PvP keeps you sharp and you Need best gear to compete. This is an initiative for grinding...not getting from 50k to 55k DPS, when all you Need is 15k
-promote PLAYING rather than DOffing and admirality. Give more XP for kills
KDF: 2 tacs, 2 engs, 3 scis
KDF Roms: 3 tacs, 1 eng, 1 scis
FED: 2 tacs, 1 eng, 2 scis
TOS: 1 tac
all on T5 rep (up to temporal)
all have mastered Intel tree (and some more specs Points)
highest DPS: 60.982
