Since there is a lot of negativity and angst in the forums, I figured Id post this....

Its all gonna be ok. Just play the game and have fun. Cryptic/PWE is a business, and the point of having a business it to make money. Why hate on them for doing it? Yeah, shady business practices. Ok, they spoil the ones that faceroll their Visas into the keyboard (not hating, if you got it like that gratz!). Who cares? Protip: That need for "instant gratification" is what drives their business model. Know how to beat it? Patience. Grind for ECs. Its not hard. You just gotta find a hustle. Dont get down because you dont have the newest and shiniest. Youre better than that. Instead, make what you have better and shinier. Stay awesome guys!

And? Thats really a "them" problem. Not a "you" problem. Beat the system instead of hating on it.

Because of the ignorance of people in large groups.

@exarch1701 they are not failing at business if they are taking advantage of the demographic you describe. Succeeding means making money and if they make money off of ignorant people that's the same as making money off of educated people. Making money is making money.

@nikephorus I never said they were failing. And were ALL guilty of the same kind of ignorance, just in different ways. Facebook, smart phones, Windows OS. Everyone wants the "Bigger and shinier", and we all want that instant gratification. Why? Because someone else said it was popular/easier/cheaper/faster etc, etc, etc. Hence the group mentality. And the point of this was to just be a bit positive about the whole T6 connie thing, and just the general disgruntledness of the community because of "shady business practices". I cant count how many times Ive seen the whole "Im not giving PWE anymore money", or "Thats it, Im done playing" on the forums. If just one person sees this post, and draws something positive from it, great. And if anything I said came across as argumentative, cross, or mean, I apologize. That wasnt were I was trying to go with this. Theres so much negativity on the forums, that I just wanted a change of pace for everyone.

Nice post OP, I agree with you.

I feel that cryptic is on a right track atm. They bankroll the game by selling stuff that peeps highly want, not by squeezing it out of everybody by issuing one nerf after the other.

I feel well in game and it’s fun to play. If I spend money on it form time to time I do so gladly. The current promo ships are no need to do so in my opinion. If I would want to have them I’d simply play for them for a month or two. ;)

    I give them credit..

The T6 Connie announcement did a great job of quelling all the negativity over the Gold Nagus Promotion, no one even remembers that TRIBBLE anymore.

It kinda reassures me that I did not recieve the Gold Nagus Promotion. That means that I am not among the craziest spenders in this game. *phew*

It won't end my gaming. I'm trying a few boxes. If I don't get it, I will be disappointed, but I will get something I can get. Going after the Geneva. Either way, my AOY will get a nice ship to use.

So if I open enough R&D packs, I might get a T6 version of an iconic ship.

Something which a lot of the playerbase has wanted for years.

I don't see the problem here. People asked and Cryptic gave them what they wanted. Waitaminnit... I just figured it out.
Some people wanted Cryptic to give them a T6 version of an iconic ship for free. After all, Cryptic is supposed to be a charity which helps poor indigent Star Trek fans out of the goodness of their heart. Because in a society such as ours today anyone who does something while motivated purely by profit is the evilest of evils. Profit making people are far worse than drug dealers and paedophiles aren't they? Look at those unholy creatures known as Apple and Facebook for example.

Next time be more careful about what you wish for. and while you're at it act like you got some smarts.

I truly really hope the ships are Bind on Pickup. It will amuse me to no end to read the hundreds of threads about how 'unfair' such a condition would be. I intend to open enough R&D Packs to ensure I get one of each. One of the coolest things about a well paying job which I enjoy doing is the discretionary income part. So fear not, all of you who publicly claim you're not giving Cryptic any more money. I'll pick up your slack. I've done so for this long so it isn't something new.

This way you'll still have a game to play tomorrow and the next day and a forum to complain on as well. You're welcome.

It's not you- it's me. I just need my space.

Being critical doesn't take skill. Being constructively critical- which is providing alternative solutions or suggestions to a demonstrated problem, however, does.

    This is the proper sentiment:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-diB65scQU
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
