Random ship scaling question... involving the Defiant.

in Star Trek Online General Discussion
So I was thinking...I know the Defiant is smaller (I think) than it really should be. Would it be theoretically possible to carry one on board a Concorde CBC? What about the Jupiter class? I know some players are really into this ship scale stuff and figured they might know.

Note, I'm not asking for this to be an option, just if it would be possible...for RP and the like.

    I'm pretty sure the Defiant changed sizes several times during DS9's seasons. Keep this in mind as opinions come in. This fact is part of why I pay little attention to such details, otherwise it might drive me a little bit (more) crazy.

    The Defiant IS NOT smaller than it should be. This is confirmed in the FCTs.

    Hmm, I don't know. You might want to compare the Oddysee and the Command Cruisers- the Oddy can carry an Aquarias Light Escort, and I believe that is about the same size as the Defiant. But the Oddy has a dedicated docking port for the Aquaris.

    I doubt it a bit. It could probably "hide" somewhere been the nacelles or be docked to the saucer or something like that.

    I think the Callisto Frigates are probably smaller than the Defiant, but it's possible the Defiant could fit in the hangar bay, but it could probably not be transported anywhere else.

    Size I don't think is as important as ship classification (which has also changed multiple times during STO's production cycle, to be fair).

    The Callisto and Aquarius are designated as "Light Escorts", and are functionally equivelant to Raiders.

    The Defiant hasn't been given that kind of classification, so I'd imagine it would be too "heavy" to be given hangar space, based on volume, rather than mass. It's more comparable to a Raptor than a Raider.​​

    The Defiant always feels kinda small to me, like a regular Escort. Certainly doesn't feel as huge as an Ody. In STO, at least, you can tell it's much smaller (you can always tell, judging by the animations for Kemocite, which are, annoyingly, never scaled with the ship).

    The size of the Defiant did vary on the show. If you watch First Contact where the Enterprise E enters the battle with the Borg the Defiant is tiny in comparison, almost shuttle sized latest?cb=20111213191044&path-prefix=en

    That is an AMAZING MSD for the Jupiter. Has anyone on the dev team seen it?
    Also, yeah, Callistos are smaller than Defiants. Not by much, mind you, but they are.

    EDIT: Man I wish I could get a hold of the guy that made the MSD and offer to point out some features he missed. Not much, mind you: it's mostly missing little hard-to-spot details like the main shuttlebay, forward cannon cluster, and the disc-shaped emplacement on the aft end I am assuming is some kind of coordinating sensor array of some sort.
