Okay, this is odd.

I was just able to post in the 'things used to harass others thread, but when I try to post in the 'what was the point of AoY?' thread, it doesn't post and instead I get a message stating my post will be posted when it's been approved.

Anyone got a explanation for that?

If it gets posted, there will be duplicates, as I didn't notice that message till the third or fourth try at posting.
Now a LTS and loving it.

Did you post a URL in your post?

I know sometimes, if I post something and link to an article, that happens. There must be key words in the URL that the forum is set to block in case it's a gold seller.

If that happens, edit your post and do it again, from what I can tell.. no one will ever approve it, the post is just gone.

I had it happen to me once when I tagged another posting using @ followed by their handle. I think that can trigger it too, but I'm not sure what specifically does it. I use URL's and tag people all the time and it usually works. Sometimes though, it sees something it doesn't like and sends your post to the black hole of approval.

The forums are becoming self-aware. They've started to judge your messages.

No, no urls, no @ with names, just plain text. I've been able to respond in other threads, no problem. Just that one that told me my post needed to be approved.

Yeah, there is no approval. The posts might still be in a box some where waiting to be approved, but it's a box that they never leave.

Oh well. In the long run it isn't important or world-changing.

Whatever it was doing yesterday has stopped. I was able to post in that thread. Guess it was a bug.

Maybe the NSA flagged it. It could also be a part of an anti-spam rule that when a user account posts frequently within a short time, it flags it so an agent can review it.

Hard to say. It could have been anything. I wasn't posting any more quickly than I normally do and this is the first time that's happened.

I've had it happen once. Made a post, immediately realized I needed to edit it, made the very minor change, tried to submit again, and got a notice that it was going into the approval queue. I guessed it was because of trying to submit an edit too quickly after the initial post, but I could be wrong.

posting too quickly perhaps? I know the old forums wouldnt let you post within a couple minutes of yoru last post.
  • echattyechatty Member Posts: 5,916 Arc User
I usually don't post very quickly, without reading previous posts. And that was the first I attempted at that time.

Whatever it was, it isn't there now, as I was able to post in it earlier

It's not speed. I've never seen it happen when editing immediately. BUT, I've seen it happen when I added something the system didn't like. I know of one website(boardgamegeek) where any link I post to anything on that site causes the post to get eaten.
