Would it be possible for the tailor to be programmed to allow Admiral rank Players to make their ship look like one from a previous rank and alternate profession, like a tier6 Tac Player with a "tier3 sci ship"?

Since careers and ship classes aren't locked together, I'm going to assume 'a tier6 Tac Player' means 'a player with a Tier 6 Escort' or similar, which, as raptorr said, the answer would be 'No'. Part of it is a remaining element of WYSIWYG for other players, but perhaps more importantly is the matter of the game engine isn't designed for it, there would be issues of clipping, ship... what is word? not qualifications, specifications? Where the game would have kittens because the engine isn't designed to deal with the graphics of a big, wide-turning, etc. Star Cruiser being meshed to a much smaller, more manuverable Tactical Escort (T6), plus how it would effect mapping out damage, shields, etc...
'No' and probably for the best, really... Imagine all the bugs that would appear and breakdowns that would occur if it were tried...

^Words that every player should keep in mind, especially whenever there's a problem with the game...
