Thats just the map loading, its been doing that for a while now. Even if the snr didnt show uo you would still have the same map load times (new instances always take a minute, just now the snr seems to be showing)

What he/she said. Also, an SNR is based off of network performance and has nothing to do with graphics hardware, and even your CPU has little influence on it.

If you continue to experience SNRs I'd suggest checking your network (PC) settings, router configuration, and ISP performance. Running a tracert could help here. (You can check your connection quality to STO by opening the command prompt and type without quotes: "tracert patchserver.crypticstudios.com" )

Often times you can have a beast of a gaming rig, but if you connect to the internet from a cheapo router you can still suffer from lag/latency issues. Lol.

I just click on another open window on my screen and fiddle with something else (mostly go to the forums and read stuff), then come back in a minute or two.
It's usually done and the "PRESS ANY KEY" option is waiting for me.

'cept for that GTX 970 class action. Which probably doesn't impact because STO won't tax that card.

I don't think this has anything to do with your video card. Lots of folks experiencing this issue...the video cards run the gamut. This is a server issue. So grab your favorite beverage, sit back and enjoy!

I just logged out due to that same problem myself. I was on Risa, still had some of my summer gear equipped. Found it near impossible to change back to fighting gear as every time I tried to move an item in inventory, the game just about dumped me out. Long SNRs. Maybe I won't come back to play today.

I always get SNR during transitions to new maps. It usually takes several seconds to catch up, then it loads just fine.
Now a LTS and loving it.

the SNR on loading screens has been happening for a months, even before they announced the expansion. Sometimes I get it 3 map changes or more in a row: enter fleet dil mine system, beam to dil mine, transwarp to starbase, beam to starbase.

I almost never disconnect though. At first the SNR on the loading screen was lasting about 40 seconds, then 45 seconds, and lately it's been lasting at least 50 seconds, up to a minute, almost every time, and I'm getting hit with it more often. It use to happen on about a quarter of the map changes, but not it seems like it's every other loading screen. So it seems like the problem is slowly getting worse.

Turning off On-Demand patching does help alleviate at least some of the cause for the many SNRs.

Yeah. I started playing just over a year ago and as far as I remember, it's always happened. I just assumed it was due to the code that handles the downloaded content not talking to the networking code. Especially since it never results in a disconnect except those few times when there's been real network issues. I wonder if it goes away if you have the update on demand, or whatever it's called, turned off.

Nope. I've had on-demand patching turned off for a long time.

My problem for the last couple of months is with switching Characters or just getting to the Select Character Screen to 'log out' for the night. Sometimes, and not as bad as it has been, after exiting the one Character I get 'Connection to the Login Server has timed out'. I re-enter my password and more often than not back to the Character Select Screen right away. Sometimes it may take two attempts.

For an even longer time after a Patch it will sit there updating and then it will always get that 'Connection to the Login Server...' when it does get to the game.

Yeah, I turned off On-Demand Patching as well awhile back. Not much of a change, still get SNRs on loading new screens.

When it comes to DSEs, after I've played them a couple of times I can get right into them, no problem.
