About the "Giveaway" Starships / Consoles ....

I was discussing STO with my sister, who is wondering if she wants to play STO again, and she brought up something that I couldn't answer ....

Will there ever be a way to get the giveaway ships that a person may have missed ?
If the answer is no, how about a way to get the console from those ships ? She has 2 of the Breen Xmas ships and has no way of completing the console set ...

or maybe add this as a benefit for a Lifetime Account ....

I think it would be nice if you added some way of getting, or purchasing, these Starships / Consoles at the very least ....

The answer is no. At this time, there is no way to get event ships that have passed us by, as they were short time rewards for certain events.

Also, prepare yourself for people to argue with you, and against one another. This request has been brought up multiple times over the years. These discussions usually turn ugly.

For the record:

Our current Executive Producer has decided that, since the metrics require as many unique log-ins as possible during the event itself, to have applied the "exclusive to that one event" tag upon all event ships as "incentive" to get people logging in during that year's event.

Allowing Catch-ups would "allow" people to skip a few year's worth of events then alt-plow them all in one year.

People have requested... monetization... of the previous year ships (especially anniversary ones that tie to C-store packages) in the same vein as the "freebie" Dyson Science Destroyer - ie, it goes to the Lobi store - and no response on that subject has been issued, other than the ongoing lack of either the ships or the consoles available anywhere else.

I don't see why they don't let you que it up if you wish.. or missed it... I lost internet for a few weeks to do construction and missed out on the breen carrier... and that kinda sucks as there was nothing I could do about it.

Thanks for this information .... This makes sense for not letting the ships be bought...

But all things considered I would like to see a way to get the missed consoles. Because the console given out with some of these ships, the Breen ships for example, have a bonus attached to them as a set and if for reasons beyond someones control they are not able to get the Ship. They lose out on the console bonus. As an example: What if my computer crashed and it took a month until I could get it working or have it replaced. This is a issue that was beyond my control, so now I'll never be able to get that console bonus ... I just wish they would make the consoles available, but I understand why they don't ....

so if you had an Operation and you spent a few weeks in Hospital at the time of Event you cannot get the ship...
now personally the only Event I have skipped so far was the breech Event as the rewards/time spent didn't make it a good deal.
But I think there should be a way for People to reclaim the ships. Even if you are a new Player, this would just maybe help you improve your game which I don't mind at all - especially if those Players are on my Team in a PvE Mission.

What Bugs me as well is the fact that I cannot reclaim certain items on my newer toons - even though I have unlocked them on other toons. Like the Antiproton Torpedo we got from one Event or the Crystal spike we got from another one.

The reason is because those events have to be done per toon and are 'easier and quicker' to acquire than the seasonal ships. Besides, it's rare that these are actually useful.

Previously, it was possible to earn the old event ships the next time the relevant event ran. Currently it is not possible to acquire old event ships by any means. The future is unknown as it tends to be.

I'm sure this thread will soon devolve into yet another pointless debate between players on the merits of "exclusivity" and I hope I can resist temptation to participate, as I find certain posters' treating the denial of other people's fun as some kind of personal accomplishment for themselves thoroughly offensive.

Especially when exclusivity doesn't make sense in this game. The Liberated Borg Engineering Bridge Officer, Targ, Rivera Tribble, and TOS Constitution were all originally Pre-order exclusives until they were put in the C-Store while other Pre-order exclusives still are unavailable in this game. Then there is the list of Event ships where some are still available like the Dyson Science Destroyer, Odyssey Star Cruiser, Fleet Support Cruiser Retrofit, and Advanced Obelisk Carrier. The Fleet Support Cruiser Retrofit and Advanced Obelisk Carrier are superior versions of their Event ship counterpart.

Would seem an option for the consoles to be 'purchased' or an event slot for the console during the various events as an alternative to spend event currency, would be a way to keep the exclusivity of the ships, while letting people complete sets.
