Just read about the Defiant C, a Nachthexen-class Battle Cruiser in the news section of STO, Captained by a Klingon and I'm wonder is this foreshadowing a future 31st Century Temporal Battle Cruiser called the Nachthexen Class (sounds Klingon)?

Nachthexen isn't Klingon, it's German - it means 'night witches' and is most commonly used in reference to a group of female fighter pilots in the Luftwaffe in world War II.

Actually, they were Russians (in the Russian air corps). The "Night Witches" was what the Germans called them.

It could possibly be, or it could just be something they introduced simply for the sake of the story and didn't want to simply make it one of the 3 existing time ships.

Yep, you're right - my mental dilithium crystals are a little fried after a long day.

Actually, you're right, the ship is not Klingon, but her captain (K'Grel, Daughter of Korol) is Klingon.
I know, I got pretty excited when I saw the mention of a Nachthexen in the story piece. I know it could just be fluff, but honestly, creating 'just fluff' isn't really Cryptic's thing, is it? I mean, they'll make interesting fluff to go with monetized materials, but just about nothing is truly disconnected from in-game content. The closest I can think is the T6 Assimilated Assault Cruiser admiralty card not (yet) foreshadowing an actual ship, but even that's a bad example because it's an in-game asset.
I have no idea what it could be foreshadowing. We've not long had the T6 Battlecruisers, and the T6 Tactical Escorts, so it's not going to be one of those.
And yet another Fed cruiser would be a bit dull to be honest, i mean what is it going to be, yet another tac heavy ship with some OP consoles./trait.
I wasn't aware that someone ever said the term "Nachthexe", but as a German speaking Targ I have to say that I never heard a more stupid sounding name than a "Nachthexe Battlecruiser".

honestly, that name feels like bad fanfic material....
Oh and btw:
I seem to remember the battle of procyon a little differently than the dude in that fanfix excert.
The Enterprise J i encounter in the battle of procyon is no threat to anyone or anything.
I fact a shuttle could kill it....
The J actually can take care of itself against relatively modest enemy ship formations. You only really need to keep an eye on it in the final phase of the fight, when a ridiculous number of ships show up, including the Annorax.
At that point, it gets overwhelmed. It can only do so many Beam: Fire At Wills at a time, and the combination of Sphere Builder, Krenim, and Na'kuhl weapons really eat it up.
I've always identified Klingons as Germans. Both are loud and obnoxious after all.
Fun aside, i always use a German Theme when naming my Klingon vessels. Don't know why, but it somehow seems appropriate.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

Considering the game is translated into German, it may get a different name there. Maybe translate Nachthexe to Russian? or, as with some movies, find a totally unrelated name. Kampfkreuzer der Schnabeltierklasse.

I'm going to be disappointed if it's yet another Fed-only piece, after being foreshadowed as being captained by a Klingon.

Curious about how they'll make it different from the Paladin.
5/3 weapon slot setup or my mother's a tribble. If I had to hazard a guess, it'll have Temporal Op seating at a non-Commander station, making it essentially an Arbiter with different specialist seating.
EDIT: Oh, and they'll get one or more tears of joy from me if it sports 5 tac consoles like the Martok, but that would be even more unfair to the KDF than the game already is.

As a german who really likes the Klingons, I can tell you: The difference couldn't be any larger. Especially when it comes to culture and politics. We've been a proper (as far as 'proper' goes in governments) democracy for decades by now and our military is fairly small in comparison to other states. Also, the loud Germans are usually tourists or Oktoberfest-enthusiasts.

Tourists are always loud, no matter the origin.
Also: The Klingons are more akin to Americans.
The achievements of the few somehow propelled a country full of mental muppets to world power.

I think it will be full 31st Century Temporal so that means Temporal Commander.
It could be 26th Century Temporal, like the Paladin, but given the Klingon Captain I doubt it.
On the other hand the Daemash in the story wasn't attacked when it arrived in the 31st Century, so that might be a hint that the ship it destroyed, the defiant C was destroyed. And Defiant C seems low on the alphabet for 31st Century.
On the other hand 26th Century ships are linked to the Temporal Federation, with its only 4 Captain races, none of which are Klingon so that makes 31st Century more likely.
And Defiant C seems low on the alphabet for 31st Century.
We don't know when the alphabet even starts. As far as the 25th century, there have been at least 3 starfleet ships named Defiant, none of them with a letter after it.

... or if naming conventions don't change a couple of dozen times within the space of 600 years?

I believe technically, the letter is only added to the registration number. That's at least what happens with the Enterprises. But we call Picard's Enterprise Enterprise D commonly as a shortcut. I figure "Defiant C" might mean the same.
I believe Sisko's Defiant had an NX registry, so the letter might not be added anywhere, since it was a new registry. I don't know what they did with the replacement Defiant, I figure for CGI-reuse reasons alone they might have kept the old registry.
From canon, we can confirm the existence of 3 Defiants. I figure the Defiant stationed on DS9 right now might still be the same as the 3rd Defiant (Sisko's replacement Defiant). Which would make her the B, if we count from the start.

The TOS Defiant was NCC-1764, both DS9 Defiants were NX-74205. No bloody A, B, C or D.

I'm relieved its named after Russian female fighter pilots, no way would I fly a ship named after TRIBBLE's, that'd be messed up.
And it was no Accident that this is in there, they could easily have used a Chronos Dreadnaught Cruiser instead, it might encourage a few more sales.
I'll be surprised if the Night Witch Class Battle Cruiser doesn't come out evidentually.

well the original Star Trek vessel to carry the name Defiant was a Constitution Class Heavy Cruiser.

Actually... no. A Klingon is the re-arranged biological mass of Vikings and middle-age Asians (like Feudal Japan) thrown into a blender :P
