been the kor... there is a reason I sigh when I see nothing but fed cruisers. pay to win lobi/lockbox somehow are even worse.

if I stop posting it doesn't make you right it. just means I don't have enough rum to continue interacting with you.

Unless it is the D4x, of course. ;)

Bumping this thread back up. Just picked up a D4x for my KDF Tac, and it is as magnificent as I had expected and more. Did a 5-BoP run of the Bandlands BZ, was tons of funs. Planning on organizing another BZ bash this weekend provided some stuff doesn't come up IRL. Also if anyone in the league wants to post photos/videos of our glorious battles feel free to do so.

As revanindustries said, a great run was had - some of the best fun I've had since the days of Ker'rat wolfpacks, with an astonishing 3 D4Xs brought to bear and plenty of (sort of) fed ships as targets. Not that the more traditional BoP pilots were to be outdone, mind...

What *is* interesting - and it's runs like this that have got me trying it again - is effectively remembering how to pilot a Raider; flank, decloak, strafe, run, spin and repeat, don't stick around or even NPCs will vape you. The D4x adds extra fun in being able to use pilot manoeuvres for "handbrake turns" in space. But it's a very different way of playing from the current FAW / Exotic meta.

And here's another thing you don't see very often...

Bumping again. Had a nasty thing called finals that kept me from playing for a few weeks, but those have completed and now I am back in action. Yesterday got the crew back flying glorious missions in the BoPs. In addition, we have been discussing the League and have decided on widening the scope slightly to include all Raider captains. That means Fed/Fed-Rom Aquarius and Batarang pilots are now free to join up. This has an added bonus of making the league more alt-friendly for our current KDF members who may have Fed toons.

Fed's in the bop league, that's me gone.
  • revanindustriesrevanindustries Member Posts: 508 Arc User
I'm trying it out for a week. If I get enough requests to join it'll stay, otherwise it's back to KDF/KDF-ROM only.

Well it has been about one week and as expected no Federation captains have proven to have the heart of a true warrior. The BoP league shall be closing its doors from the Federation petaq' and returning to only KDF and KDF-Rom.

    1. Presumes I'd read this board in the first place. I don't. I don't play KDF. When did you advertise it in the boards I DO read?
    2. As a Fed character, I can't fly KDF ships. The pain that is getting a KDF to level 50 isn't worth the return for engaging in this. It's the equivalent of borrowing $100K in student loans to get a four year degree just to end up frying chicken as a part-time job. No thanks.
    3. Let me bring my T5-U Constellation and I'm there.

So tonight started up as a standard run in the Undine BZ and a few queues and then after a while a lot of people from the 10k channel decided to go to Ker'rat. 3 KDF (2 in BoP's) and a larger number of Feds deuling it out. Very fun!

    The constellation is a....

    CRUISER!!!

alright, I guess it's time to educate you on ships you can actually own, as a Federation character, that would have (under the revised concept rules) allowed you in...

Ourobouros Temporal Raider: Everything a Tier Six bird of Prey ought to have had, but it's a rebadged Federation ship with default "USS" registry even if you buy it on a Klingon. (as a KDF player, I flat refused to buy it. If I want to play FED, I have FED characters for that.)

Breen Plesh-Brekh: first ship in the game to get Raider Flanking-and it's a better version than the KDF BoP gets. (iirc they even re-offered it)

Aquarius: Tier 5, laid out like a product improved Hoh'sus, the only 'sad bit' is needing the cloaking console from your Defiant.

There are a couple Lockbox raiders you can get on the exchange. Cheap, for EC even (both are, iirc, upgradeable, being lockbox ships and all).

lockbox raiders include the kazon heavy raider (t5, can go t5u, and it's VERY cheap, though upgrade tokens are like 15 mil? so altogether you're looking at maybe 20 mil), baltim heavy raider, and the nakhul tadaari raider. D4X is kdf only

I'm leveling a new Klingon captain right now. I should have her to lvl 60 in a few days and I'll be buying the Kor. I'd like to throw my hat in the ring once I'm set up. Sounds fun

Edit: I forgot to mention my online times:

All times U.S. - Central TRIBBLE time

Weekdays around 5pm to 10pm or so
Weekend around 9 AM until - I'm usually on and off throughout the day.

The Kor is a fine ship. Get the quantum phase torps from "Sunrise", they go nicely with the console. Just don't stay still...

Thanks, I'll check it out. I was really torn between buying the Kor first or going for the tac pilot ship. I get a kick out of the pilots on the fed side. I'm sure I'll end up with the pilot ship eventually, but I really started this character with the Kor in mind. My only KDF up to this point has been a Reman and the BOP envy was killing me, lol.

I really need to get my hands on a D4X, but life's been pretty busy this past year so I lack the resources atm. :( But I really need to get one somehow, have a feeling that will motivate me to get back to training by BoP skills and be involved with such events like this one more. I really like the design of the ship and the interior that comes with it. Ugh.....need to grind my TRIBBLE off.... :s

And yeah, I don't fly with Federation or Romulan peta'Q. Don't feel safe with them treacherous targs around. I only go to battle with fellow warriors! (jk, it actually kills my feeling for the match and I only PvP as a KDF player on a KDF team). And this is from someone that has both Fed and RR characters.

And don't mind me blabbering around, just what I do - the organizers if the league should not take this at face value and just go about their business as they think it's best, but if we get semantic about it......a Bird of Prey league is pretty much a KDF league. As in only Klingons have Birds of Prey. There are plenty of raiders, but only KDF has Birds of Prey. And.....well, it's not a "raider" league. ;):D

Besides, as our famous friend @repetitiveepic often tends to say - B'rel ship is best ship! ;)

Very true, but I leave it "BoP League" because back when this first started there were no other Battle Cloaking Raiders so it was BoP or Plesh Brek only. Plus it sounds a lot better than "Raider" anything.

    Raiders are a lost art!

I still would like to get a D4x myself, but in the spirit of Honor & Honesty most of my Raider experience comes from running a T'Varo & Malem on the Romulan I devote my time to, I do run a Kor on a KDF tact, and my Gorn Sci has a Hegh'ta in drydock and could claim a Kor. With a Ferasan in a Phlesh Brek.

With all that said my actual main is a KDF Eng, maybe someday I'll get her that D4x and League up.

Not that I mind the B'rel at all, she has always been one of my favorite looking ships. I wish they would give us an Intel and Command BoP.

Technically the Temporal Raider is a Time Spec Raider.

Given that they did the T6 sovereign in both Command and Intel varieties, I'm sure I am not the only one who wouldn't care if they just changed console and specialization, no new hull.

At most maybe just a hull material for Intel and Command. Intel being much darker like the Qib, and Command a very bright Iconic hull with larger Klingon Empire Emblems.

Edit: I always forget about the Faeht, been a long time since I took her for a spin. Didn't like her as much at launch, but with power creep and gear since launch, worth a spin.

Even though I am more of a Battle Cruiser or Destroyer Captain. Some people get upset about the defiant and Aquarius. The Existence of the Avenger and Federation Battlecruisers makes my magenta blood boil...

    13 characters: 7 KDF, 2 fed, 1 AoY Fed, 3 Romulan ( 2 KDF Allied, 1 fed allied), 2 unused slots.

So things have been pretty quiet in the League recently. I've been rather busy playing OmeGuitar Hero for the EC and upgrades. But things are still happening. D4x prices are falling into reasonable levels, and I know at least one of our members has picked one up and is smashing faces with it. Tech Upgrade weekend has been kind enough for a CoalDis set I started working up.

Have a new KDF toon I'm leveling primarily for a Keldon, but I'm considering picking up a Fleet Norgh as well for that toon for old times sake (and Ning'tao skin best skin).

The D4X is every bit the BoP we have all been asking for, except for the "nuTrek" look (which some may not like) and lack of Intel seating, instead of Pilot (which would probably make it stupidly OP). It's just ridiculously good. Cheap enough to snag off the exchange for most, right now, too.

All of the hype? Warranted, IMO.

I, for one, love the thing because of her looks. And the bridge, the bridge is GLORIOUS!!! Couldn't care less whether it's "nuTrek", "oldTrek", ""JJTrek" or whatever.....the bird looks amazing. Hell, I'd love it even if it didn't preform so well.
I really need to focus myself on getting one.

As good a job as was done with the bridge, the animations that go with the pilot maneuvers are what make it the best ship -as far as artwork goes- in the game. In my opinion, of course.

Get one- it's as good as everyone claims.

This weekend (provided nothing disrupts my plans) I'll be getting a BoP team to hop into the revamped Breach Queue. Anyone who wants to join in and is not in the league sign up now. Hopefully we can get a full 5-man team of BoPs in there.
