Some advice for a sci newb

I really dont know my way around science powers and was hoping for some advice. So far I have been running sci ships a little like cruisers but using the grav well resonance beam combo to dish out burst damage as needed with some feedback pulses mixed in. While certanly fun I was wondering if its possable to just do away with weapon consoles completly and focus more towards exotic damage and if so what kind of setups should I be looking at.

    Right now I have a sci ship tac's console spots filled with: constriction anchor for partgen damage; chronometric capacitor for partgen and torp damage; and the undine tac console for torp and radiation damage. Anything that boosts critD could be a good idea if you are running very high critH rates from personal and starship traits.

    Theres now a choice of space sets that boost partgen, torp, flow and control. I'm running an old honour guard set, out of laziness as much as anything else.

    I wouldn't be at all suprised if partgen boosting consoles have been released that I've missed. And for space sets condier what you already have and which grind is acceptable.

    Ultimately a sci partgen build needs a realistic estimate of the partgen/weapon balance, so do some parses to see what's actually happening and try to roughly workout a balance between: weapon damage, partgen damage, critH, critD, survivability and mobility.

    Also theres a choice between embassy sci console and research lab ones, with the latter offering the best sci boost and the former plasma explosions. Also crafted rcs and particle field exciter consoles with the mod of choice.

    There is a science build thead in this forum section that focuses on many different exotic dmg builds. For me what i found is if you want to use exotic damage i would use torps as main weapon damage as they dont need high weapon power to use. Also run max aux to make sure all your science stuff is running at max. Also the RnD consoles with control and prtg on then are really good to make your science stuff reall y strong. Main science sttacks i use are destabilizing resonance beam, Grav well and subspace vortex . That can change depending on the ship. Lastly on a sci ship sci consoles are most important the tact and engi can be universal to really push your exotic dmg up. Especially getting constriction anchor console, huge dmg boost to exotic.
