CrypticSpartan explained in a post that resistance to Exotic is not really something that can happen because, and please correct me if I get this wrong, Exotic is an identifier for how an ability is activated and not a damage type that can be resisted. I believe the example used was Feedback Pulse is an exotic damage ability, but that the damage it does is a type (depending on what it's reflecting) and so to resist it the target would need resistances for that damage type (ie, you reflect disruptor beams at someone with FBP, they'd take less damage if they have Disruptor Damage resistance).

While FBP is Exotic damage, and the damage will scale based on your Aux power level, generic Energy Damage resistance consoles or traits should help negate the damage you take. Abilities like Pol Hull and Att Pattern Delta should also help, and there is now a doff that reduces the effects of FBP even further.

As to your question, I'm not sure if FBP reflects the "exact" energy type that is shot at you.. or if it's simply listed by the system as "generic energy damage"... that's actually a very good question. I'm sure someone else would know for sure.

In any case, "Energy Damage Resistance" consoles should cover all bases.

I believe FBP reflects the same energy type that you were hit with. I had one of the tetryon damage accolades pop while fighting Tholians (or Polaron against Jem'Hadar or something similar) despite never mounting tetryon weapons on my ships and not having the cascading tetryon thing from Nukara rep yet. Or my memory could be TRIBBLE with me.

No, that makes sense. I figured it did, but wasn't 100% sure.

Actually @borticuscryptic stated that Feedback Pulse IS its own unique damage type - one of the 16 used in the game.

It must be unique as it looks different to anything else being shot at you. It just reflects "energy" damage back at the attacker so it is not generated by exotic means as in the case of grav well or DRB.

Yes, but that was changed a while ago. Now it reflects the damage type of the source effect.

    • Feedback Pulse no longer deals "Feedback Pulse" typed damage.
      • Instead it will deal damage as the same type that was inflicted upon the caster of Feedback Pulse.

Unique look does not have to mean that it's a unique type - after all, regardless of whether it's blue or red or green, a phaser still deals phaser damage.
