Just to be clear from the start, I can understand why they weren't upgradeable on the release of T6 ships and upgrade tokens.
But a lot of time has passed since then and we got plenty of blue ships in lockboxes that get T5U capabilities, with a paid token. I still don't see them around a lot, but they are there.
Back then, mirror ships were dime a dozen. Maybe Cryptic was probably afraid that they would reduce profits on T6 ships and decided to leave them behind.
But now they are more rare and expensive now, plenty probably deleted forever after people added them to their admiralty roster (that's all they are really good for, other than unlocking hull materials).
I got a mirror Voq'uv I want to upgrade. How about it? You think the times have changed enough to make this possible? I don't really see why they wouldn't want to do this now.
And before someone tells me to just get a fleet version instead, that ain't happening for various reasons.

Cryptic is turning down money by refusing to sell those upgrade tokens.
"He shall be my finest warrior, this generic man who was forced upon me.
Like a badass I shall make him look, and in the furnace of war I shall forge him.
he shall be of iron will and steely sinew.
In great armour I shall clad him and with the mightiest weapons he shall be armed.
He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.
He is my answer to cryptic logic, he is the Defender of my Romulan Crew.
He is Tovan Khev... and he shall know no fear."
The mirror ships are not upgradeable for the same reason as the free leveling ships are not upgradeable...to encourage players to buy the C-Store/fleet versions.
AFAIK, unboxing a mirror ship will also unlock the mirror skin for the other versions of the same design, so just upgrade one of those. It could even unlock for the T6's, I'm not sure.
Look as far as I know the new Temporal Bundle T5s are not Upgradeable either.
Well any of those second class ships coming out of a Lockbox from Delta Rising on, can be upgraded to T5U.

Pretty much sums up the reason "why" we'll never see the T-5U tokens applied to all Tier 5 ships.
Money is the only reason.
Being critical doesn't take skill. Being constructively critical- which is providing alternative solutions or suggestions to a demonstrated problem, however, does.
Do you mean greed? becuase the difference between the 2 quoted responses is one of them indicates cryptic is turning down many smaller transactions in favor of fewer larger ones, Profit Vs Greed.
Someone after profit will accept any and all payouts becuase they understand it adds up.

I mean "more money", as in they make more money off C-Store ship purchases than they do T-5U tokens.
Greed is completely subjective. Some consider a price to be fair and others consider it to be outrageous- not going to go into debate over prices, only that they make more from one than the other.
