you are using facebooks, tweets, and other sites, these are considered 3rd party sites.
yet, you have legit arc/pwi forum sites and not using as much, only posts were made by moderators and few often by devs for patches and some updates.
not everyone has facebook account or other sites.
we just want you all back to where the forum you were suppose to chat with players.
no more other site gimmicks or "Excuses".
This is the "Homepage" site.

I have always found it strange that the Cryptic staff post on Reddit but rarely ever say a word on their own 'official' forums.
It's bizarre.
There has been some speculation that the attitude around here is often too negative for devs to show up compared to the other platforms. However after checking on twitter, facebook and whatever I found out that this is not really the case, at least not anymore.
So come peeps of Cryptic, show up more often around here. I think you did pretty well the past year and there is no reason to hide.

On that I actually agree too.
Personally, I rarely ever bother with Reddit, etc. I occassionally see a tweet fly by, but that's it. My rationale is simple: if they have something important to say, they should do so right here!
I also heard Reddit et. al. are ruled with iron fist. Say the wrong thing there, and face serious consequences. Not liking that either.
But yeah, to try and moderate the Devs, berating them for breaking the rules, that's not going to go anywhere, guaranteed. Too bad, really, as the OP's point, indeed, was a good one to make.
I agree too. i don't use twitter, I use rarely facebook and i don't have an account on Reddit. I would like to see devs more involved in THEIR forums. We never have answers to our questions or so rarely that this is insignificant
Pure speculation on my side, but I think gaming companies generally see their forums as if not toxic, then certainly larded with too much negativism and critique. Social media seem like a way for them to propagate news rapidly (a feature a forum innately lacks). Naturally said news is then heavily censored, as they can't have critique spread like wildfire too. Social media are -- though you wouldn't think it -- kinda high-profile outlets for companies: it gives them much exposure, and they don't like to see that tainted.
Still, intuitively, their 'home base' should always be their own forums, where the players can read *everything* they need to know, in 1 solid place.
I'm happy for her, I wish her nothing but success, but not having her interacting with the player base anymore is a bad thing for all of us. She was the only one that posted here and actually talked to players. She was almost universally met with positive responses as well because people appreciated that she cared enough to talk to us.
Employees of cryptic and pwe are allowed to release information about the game on any medium they are authorised to do so.
Players that crack the client or break any nda are not.
There ya go.

IMO, the main reason Social Media (Facebook, Twitter), and even Reddit are posted on more by Devs is the ease of access, and shallowness of the pool.
On Twitter, I can just make a post (a tweet), and send it off to the world. The replies to that tweet just show up in my notifications, and generally there aren't more than a dozen or so responses. And all of those responses are going to be <141 characters long.
It's light, and easy. I can check Twitter for 30 seconds, and have read all of the responses, and sent off my own.
The forums are a much deeper, stickier swamp.
When I come to the forums, if I expect to actually read things, I need to set aside 15-30 minutes. If I'm going to make a post, I need to decide WHERE the best place to post is, I need to formulate a bunch of thoughts into some post, and send it off. If/when I come back to the forums, even if I ignore the rest of the forums, and go JUST to my post, there may be 50 replies, which are PARAGRAPHS long.
It takes MUCH longer, and much more energy to wade through the forums than it does Twitter, or even Reddit.
I can check twitter on my phone from a conference room while I'm waiting for a meeting to start. I would NEVER be able to do that with the forums.
That said, the things I post to Twitter and to a lesser degree, Reddit, are going to be pretty fluffy. Anything of serious substance will be posted here.
Edit: And yes. Deserved or not, the forums have a bad reputation amongst devs in general. It would be great to get others more involved here, but most have no interest in opening themselves up to that kind of scrutiny.
Edit2: And while there are still plenty of forums around, the format of the Forum is slowly dying off in favor of quicker, lighter, more Social Media-esque formats.
Edit3: Also, the reason STO itself (not the devs), and many other companies post a lot on Social Media, is the exposure it grants to other people. A post on FB or Twitter may be seen by hundreds of people who don't already play STO. It is a marketing method as much as anything else. That post might get shared by someone who plays STO, which shows it to all of their friends who don't. Forums don't work that way. How often do you send all of your friends a link to a forum thread?
