Kelvin timeline phasers, what's the verdict ?

vengefuldjinnvengefuldjinn Member Posts: 1,520 Arc User
I own a set of the kelvin timeline weaps, equipped them on my KT heavy Connie, kinda Meh... dps wise, looks pretty tho.
Sometimes I felt they weren't firing often/enough, Maybe it was all in my head.

Equipped the agony phasers and seemed to get better results dps-wise. (could have been the team I ran with)

Is is just me or is the firing cycle off on the KT phasers?

It's possible that the animation misleads me into thinking they aren't as effective.

What's the general impression on their effectiveness ?

Didn't see any other thread about this, forgive if I missed one.

DPS-wise, the KT Phasers are no better or worse than the standard Phasers. The Agony Phasers will do better DPS as they have a DoT proc that deals extra damage.

Their proc is pretty useless in PVE, most enemies barely move as it is and not being able to move for 3 secs really isn't an issue for most of them.
Like that cruiser, battleship, dreadnought, etc. will give a damn.....

Particularly, as I recall, if one is making use of the Temporal Operative spec.

I have a set all around on my AoY captain's ship, and one Kelvin torp launcher. BFAW2 and 3 chew TRIBBLE up, and I don't even have them upgraded to epic yet. I have to agree that they are roughly the same as comparable vanilla phasers, and since I usually stick with crafted anyways, the standard phaser proc works as expected.

They make a wondrous mess of things. Brave amateurs, they do their part.

I tried to stay KT canon so I put them on my KT Connie. The only complaints I have about them are cosmetic. I think the beam segments should be about three to four pixels wider and the volume on the sound effect needs to be increased about 15-20%. I like them other than these very minor details. Which I am prepared to live with for now.

      This.

They have one thing going for them.. they look cool. That's honestly it though.

If you want to get descent mods on them (CrtD or Dmg) you're going to pay a hefty price tag and if you're just after effectiveness, that money/Dilithum is better spent upgrading crafted Phasers with the mods you want.

I grabbed a few of them and I have them in my bank, I'll probably upgrade them during the next upgrade weekend, see what I can get. I really love the firing effect, I really wish they would let us craft 'Phaser Emitter Arrays' so that we can make them with the Mods we want and have that cool pulsing effect.

      Maybe someday..

BFAW III looks awesome on broadside with these coming off my Fleet Yamato.........
    • I went with a Kelvin Timeline theme on my toon, so I have the KT phasers and photon torpedo launchers on my Kelvin Connie and my Vengeance. I've upgraded mine to Mk XII so they're OK. I'll upgrade them all to Mk XIV when I can afford to. I like the way they look, and while they don't seem like anything to write home about DPS-wise, they do all right as they've got good modifiers and I've got some decent tac consoles (purple Mk XIV phaser relays).

The KT torpedo's are great. I've found the phasers to be under-whelming. I upgraded them to MkXIV rare and still meh. I plan to replace mine with more TOS-style phasers once my fleet get's K-13 up and going. I currently have a KT Connie with four MkXIV ultra rare TOS-phasers, two KT phasers and two KT photons. The photons are amazing though.

I want to test them out bad. I live for space barbie and these are the coolest since the Vaadwaur Polaron.

The torpedoes look interesting though especially with that [Reload] mod. RNJesus smiled upon me and gifted me with a [CRTD]x3 [Reload] and [DMG]x3 [Reload] epic versions of the Kelvin torpedoes this weekend. They're on the exchange but if someone wants em ill negotiate. ;)
