Finding temporal probes might well be the worst content Cryptic has ever created

I, for one, can't find any probe within the "Doomsday Device" mission; I've looked everywhere and have repeated the mission, even looked at that Reddit list mentioned on the thread earlier.
I think it's some sort of bug so I sent Cryptic a ticket.
Did it yesterday, aside from the guy I was teamed with deciding to do it on advanced for some reason, it went pretty smoothly. Those Targs hit like a freight train on advanced.... The Klingons were practically harmless by comparison.

That was the hardest one to find. In my case, it was in the eastern section of the stronghold, SE actually, not far from the path. But there were a bunch of patrols walking by it.
I forget where it was I was too busy running around. But yeah it was near one of the buildings you need to go to anyways. I actually found it because I was doing the run and gun routine to kill an Alpha Targ without it getting close enough to attack. I actually ran right past it then came back for it after I was done shooting targs.

The mistake was not making them show up on the "V" tricorder/sensor scan. Schlepping around these larger maps, looking for this tiny probe that isn't visible until you're nearly on top of it, made for some needless frustration and fatigue.

Players today are so coddled with collectables.

I miss the times when you weren't even told a type of collectable existed until you accidentally found the first one.

Yeah, well, maybe if I wasn't replaying a map I'd already completed 20 times, there would be more novelty left in the search.

i like to searching for probes, only 2 troublesome probes been out there in the Kuwah Mag and in the Operation Gamma, as i needed like 3 hours to find them, at least in Gamma, while that on Regulus it took like hour.

But all others been too easy to find, and best thing is text, tho little short, but to read something interesting about temporal activities is interesting.

So i like temporal probes, tho maybe just to get scanner to show where is if we can't find them after 30 mins :pensive:

There were only one or two maps that I found it annoying to locate the probes. Beyond that, the rest were easy enough to locate. Personally, I found the "Test Series" unlock thing far, far more an annoying nuisance than locating the probes.
Yeah the other two minigames are a lot faster.

IIRC when I did Kuvah'magh it was behind some random tree I'd have never gone anywhere near except for probe hunting.

Gamma is bothersome because the probe spawns are bugged and will fall to the map floor.

Gamma was a nightmare for me, the rest not so bad in all honesty.
Kuvah'magh was a bit annoying in that it was quite far off the beaten path. Took me about 15-20 mins of hunting to find it. Eventually found it on the backside of a hill, covered by some bushes.
But even that was no where near as infuriating as Gamma was. At least in Kuvah'Magh the Objective notification is not busted.

Gamma gave me the objective on the completely wrong map. I got it on the space map right before you warp to the asteroid field (to be fair, the notification was also on the asteroid field map...but, still frustrating). I totally wasted 45mins of my life searching around for it on the wrong map. :disappointed:

Same here. I think the issue is that it's actually the same map internally.

True, the maps did share the same system name.

Even though this was resurrected from July, I will say that using the map is far more effective than the target command, as you can see the probe on the map farther away than the target command.

There are some maps where they just did not show the Probe icon. I do really wish the sensor scan would be more useful, say in looking for your objective rather than Resource Anomalies.

Sometimes I've had the optional for the probe pop up AFTER I found the probe... which is really weird. IIRC, Ultimate Klingon and the P'Jem mission did this.

'The Doomsday Device' and 'The Kuvah'Magh' also had some trouble with showing the Temporal Probes.

Tedium is not an end unto itself, nor does refusal to acknowledge flawed execution of a good idea demonstrate some kind of superior virtue.

The probes are there... it's just that finding them requires running to places you otherwise have no reason to go to, and in the case of Doomsday, don't WANT to go to. Seriously, we ended up killing almost everything on the map as I looked.

Oh, I found them eventually but Doomsday was no where near anything you needed to go to, as you said.

hmmm well sort of. it at least is near a path that you... might walk down if you did the objectives in that order. It was rather bothersome to find though.
