how good is the kelvin intel dread and command heavy cruiser

Been away since january and the last thing I expected to see when I returned was ships from the kelvin timeline. I always wanted to fly the vengeance in this game so naturally I grabbed one as well as the heavy cruiser.

Unfortunatly since I have been away so long I have no frame of reference for effectivness compared to current hulls so I was wondering how good these ships are when compared to what is now available

Traits & consoles aside, they're pretty much standard t6 fed crusiers. They're in no way bad ships but simply it's more of the same from a category that's already oversaturated on fed side.

Thats a little dissapointiong. I thought lockbox ships were supposed to be above the norm in terms of performance

I can only speak to the vengance since I only have it. Its like a cross between the intel cruiser eclipse and the scimitar. LTC uni, Cmd intel/eng, LT temp/eng, LTC tac, Ens sci. That gives it a ton of flex to go raw dmg, support, or tank. It also gets a cloak, cruiser commands, hanger bay, 5 forward weapons 3 rear, 4 tac consoles, and intel gather abilities. Despite its size it has turn rate of 7 so it turns pretty dang good.

I have mine set up with 8 forward firing weapon set up, 2 Omni beams + KCB in back, 5 AP beam arrays up front. I set it for dmg, and have Override subsystem safety 3, and surgical strikes 3, with APB1 + FAW3 as my AOE dmg. Its a dmg dealing monster as is, and its on my new temp character so she has rep to get, spec to fill etc etc. With just space traits, boff set up, and good gear its impressive ship.

    9/10 in fire power
    9/10 in flexibility
    9/10 in survivability
    7/10 in mobility

    Fantastic ship over all.

Well damn... you must have a huge pile of EC to spend on ships you knew little about.

Sometimes I think I play STO just to have something to complain about on the forums.

Depends on the ship and what you're comparing it to. There're duds on both sides as well as absolute monsters.

The Vengeance is a great ship but on fed side it has to compete with the Arbiter which also has a 5/3 layout, a lt.cmdr. intel seat and better maneuverbility and the Eclipse which has better maneuverbility, a cmdr. intel & lt.intel and also a cloak.
Console wise they even share the same layout at fleet level, regular Arbiter misses a sci & regular eclipse misses a tac consle.
And unlike the Lobi ship the Arbiter & Eclipse are account wide as c-store ships are.

The thing is all 3 a great and awesome and at the end it comes down to personal taste.

To avoid a wall of text, pretty much the same goes for the jj-prise when compared to the command cruisers & flagships.

I checked the stats before I bought them so I knew the layout was something I could work with and im more concerned with flying ships I like from the show then I am with having the best stats. I just have no frame of reference for the current standard of ships is all since I have been away from the game for seven months

Yeah that was quite the surprise. I'm still unsure what's more astonishing, that we have a T6 connie or that cryptic got the jj-license.

I find the boff seating on the heavy cruiser not that good but it’s nothing one cant adapt to under the many options we have nowadays. I got the ship yesterday for my agent of… yesterday. Prices had dropped to 350 million on the exchange.

I also intend to get the Vengeance for another toon of mine currently sitting on the Arbiter. The stats of that ship look really cool.

I would not consider the 2 new ships to be best in game but surely on par with most of the good stuff that is around.

Whatever, If you have them OP or like to get them I doubt you will have a hard time to get a strong build to work on them.

A ship is only as good as the person using it. It's really up to you to find how to get the best out of it. I've switched from my At'leth dreadnought to the the Intel dreadnought. And although I've had to juggle some boff powers around and I still find it a little squishy, it's still holding its own. But for me the icing on the cake would have been having a Lieutenant science station. As I'm really missing my science team 2.
Oh, it's not broken? We can soon fix that!
