Playable Citadel Science Dreadnought Carrier and idea for ship skins

Since we already have playable Tarantulas and Vonphs why not add a Citadel Science Dreadnought Carrier to the list of playable starships? This ship would be cross-faction and available through the C-store. It should be able to use the Voth Citadel design as an extra (which can be sold through the C-store or lobi store) and a standard FED, RR and KDF skin, depending on the player's faction as it was developed by each faction after they were inspired by the Voth citadel.


The Voth use a lot of science and tactical skills so the Citadel Science Dreadnought Carrier should come with a commander tactical and commander science boff station, make it such that it can only have one of these active at the same time like the Dyson destroyers.
Other stations: Lt. universal/command, lt. engineering, lt. science.

- 3 fore, 3 aft weapon slots
and 2 broadside torpedo slots, filled with fused transphasic-chroniton torpedoes (cannot be removed)

- Hull: somewhere between 60k and 65k
- Shield modifier: 1.15
- Hangar bays: 2
- 3 Tac, 3 Eng, 5 Sci console slots
- Turn rate: 3
- Attract fire cruiser command ability
- No extra power levels, but it should come with a console:
- Auxiliary power core: plus 15 all power levels and reduces weapon cost by 10%
- Or add a special secondary warp core slot with a power core that adds 2 [eff] modifiers.

This ship would have new extra things that can also be used to bring some diversity to ship lay outs, in a different way than new boff abilities.
It would be a nice mix of tactical, science and engineering capabilities. It's not a pure tac ship due to having only 3 tac consoles, it lacks a secondary deflector slot and its extra power levels will require a console. The high amount of hull points is partly compensated for through a relatively low shield modifier. The only cruiser command array (attract fire) is more suitable to support allies.


Further, this ship would do a couple of things that have been encouraged lately:

- It would use the different configurations that were introduced with the Dyson destroyers
- Encouraging the use of torpedoes besides beams (a stated goal of the skill revamp)
- If made available through the C-store, the Citadel Science Dreadnought Carrier would give the RR and KDF factions another carrier and science-heavy ship
- It could also be an experiment: it has been a while since things like bridges (or extra things like special boffs and playable species for that matter) were added. Adding a purchasable skin to this ship could help determine how much willingness to pay there is for such things. Even if the extra skin options turn out not to be very popular, then the ship itself should still raise enough income.
- If skins of the other factions were made available to all, it could further strengthen the notion of an unified alliance without making canon designs available to all factions (like has been done with the latest 31st century cross-faction pack)



Suggestions for adaptations with regard to the stats can be posted below. Naturally. ;)

    Other good points and features that have not necessarily been encouraged lately but which are certainly worth mentioning:
    - It's Voth (or at least the extra skin is)
    - I want this, it would make me happy if it were added

    I agree with darthmeow. I've never seen those things move at all. And while I like space whales, I like mine to be more mobile than those things.
    Now a LTS and loving it.
    Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.
    I have come to the conclusion that I have a memory like Etch-A-Sketch. I shake my head and forget everything. :D

    Actually they do move. Very slowly, granted but it's still moving :)

    It's bigger than a Vonph, heck it might be bigger than an Iadon. just no.

    I'd rather have a playable Voth Cityship from The Breach, that launches Citadel Dreadnought pets from its 8 hangar bays.​​

    On a more serious note: the ship could (and probably should) be rescaled. I basically took the Voth Citadel because it's the only Voth ship that isn't playable yet and because a dreadnought carrier should be a capital ship.

    The ship itself would be designed by Starfleet, the KDF and the RR, it would just be based on or a smaller Starfleet/KDF/RR constructed version of the Voth Citadel, doesn't necessarily have to be captured Voth dreads or anything so there would be some freedom to rescale it.

    Would be interesting to see a ship with joint design aspects of the three main Alpha alliance powers. Engineering, shields and science expertise by the Federation, weapons provided by the KDF with the RR providing the cloak technology.

      Actually the idea was to have one ship, which would be based on the Voth Citadels. Because they can't put such alien ships in the C-store, the idea was to add different skins for each faction - thus making it a ship for each faction - plus an extra purchasable Voth skin.

      In some way, the Voth already are the right mix of Federation, Klingon and Romulan tech as their ships have cloaks, are usually science-heavy and still tactically powerful. So their designs might lend themselves well for such cross-faction Alliance design efforts to continue on, but I didn't really include things like cloaking technology or heavy focus on weapons like the KDF would do because it might be a bit OP if all those things were included.

      It could be interesting though, perhaps instead of having 1 ship, they could make a 3-pack of it with some variations in cloaking abilities, more weapon slots and less science consoles for the KDF for example. We could still all have access to the faction-specific skins and the Voth skin and they'd still be Citadel Dreadnoughts that were based on the same design, but with some different gameplay options (instead of the regular small differences in BOFF and console lay out that are usually made to 3-pack ships).

      Risian You've apparently given this idea much thought and I appreciate your sharing your vision. 3 is a bit slow and I on occasion use the Enterprise J Universe Class which I call the Battlewhaale. The City Ship launching Citadels sounds awesome. I'll get out my credit card. :)
