hey i have a serious question.

the largest trading channel in the game is called "thetradingchannel"

it has over 4,800 members and it is well regulated.

if you want to sell or buy something, you want the largest market exposure possible.

so why would you want to create a competing/smaller channel instead of just using a large one?

im not trying to bash your channel but i just dont understand.

Competing channels should be encouraged.

So should having more posts than fingers before attempting to engage the community with your big idea.

I have sold/bought/traded ships and consoles in there and it's a great chat channel too ​​

I could be wrong but isn't thetradingchannel usually set to invite-only? The OP makes a point of stating their channel is public.

Yes, TTC is invite only. Club Noob is not private, well over a year old and near 850 members.

Because it's essentially a fleet channel for SFD/NoP. There is no service offered. It's one thing if you advertise a channel performing a service only to keep people out, it's another if the channel has always been designed as private.

I have no association with Dental. From everything I have seen and read I even have a negative image of Dental, but I don't know enough about them to have any kind of judgment. I am in three different fleets (one for my Fed side, one for my KDF side minus one toon, one Ferasan fleet for my Ferasan toon). All of them have "fleet friends" and all of them have a channel for this and none of them is public as far as I know. Could be mistaken though, never checked. But even if they were public, that'd be only a technicality, as soon as someone unwelcome joined, they'd be made private.

Anyways, this is a group (or these are...) that does not offer services or produce trading or whatever, it however is a channel for people who know each other to talk, sometimes even personal stuff that is not intended to be public domain and not at all pertinent to the game as such.

OP is banned from TTC. So that explains Club Noob a little. I quit a while ago but it's still a good channel for those who are interested. A bit topsy turvy. You'll see standard trade deals as well as a little bit of lite RP.

I believe from prior experience, unless the way things work has changed since, that it's impossible to permanently kick out a misbehaving member of a channel unless it is set to private as they can just rejoin right away after being kicked out. So it may be a necessity to keep channels private for that reason.
